D-sub connectors ditch cadmium, resist salt spray
TE Connectivity AMPLIMITE stainless steel D-subminiature connectors are in stock at distributor RS Components. They combine enhanced salt spray resistance with RoHS compliance, without the use of toxic cadmium plating.
Designed to meet the performance requirements of MIL-DTL-24308, AMPLIMITE D-subminiatures are ideal for use by electronic and industrial design engineers working on military and aerospace projects such as weapons systems, launch systems and military ground vehicles, as well as other marine and harsh-environment applications.
Designers are moving away from cadmium-based military connectors to comply with environmental regulations.
Each AMPLIMITE D-sub comes in a rugged, environmentally friendly passivated stainless-steel housing that provides up to 500-hour protection against salt spray. TE's range of standard-density 20 AWG or high-density 22 AWG crimp contacts are used, at 2.29mm or 2.77mm pitch.
The AMPLIMITE D-sub range includes both plugs and receptacles with from 9 to 104 positions, in shell sizes from 1 to 6. Panel mount, cable mount, magnetic and non-magnetic versions are available. The maximum contact current rating is 5A or 7.5A, and the operating temperature range is from –55° to 125°C.
The AMPLIMITE D-sub range is shipping now from RS in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.
