AMETEK has announced its plan to support the growing supply chain demands in the commercial and military aerospace sectors by expanding the presence of its Hermetic Seal and Sealtron brands.

“While the aerospace and defense sector experienced an unprecedented disruption due to the pandemic, we see it being one of the most high-profile markets globally and within the context of the U.S. economy,” said Liam Shanahan, Division VP and Business Unit Manager. “Together, our brands supply the sector with a full-suite of hermetic connectors capable of withstanding the most extreme conditions.”

Hermetic Seal and Sealtron are niche brands focused solely on hermetic connectors. Hermetic Seal manufactures custom connectors to meet specific applications and address new design specifications while Sealtron is an expert in glass-to-metal hermetically sealed connectors that are manufactured in significantly large volumes.

“Most of our competitors have glass sealing as a smaller, sub-segment of their business whereas at Hermetic Seal and Sealtron, this is our business,” said Shanahan.

A single aircraft has hundreds of sensors that monitor and control the aircraft’s systems such as engines, fuel tanks, landing gear, and actuators. Hermetically sealed connectors protect those systems against environmental conditions such as atmospheric pressure changes, humidity, moisture, dirt, or other natural contaminants that can affect electronics or compromise signals.

“Hermetic connectors are the unsung heroes of commercial and military aircraft,” said Tim McCoy, VP of Sales and Marketing. “They represent a small part of the cost of an aircraft, but with thousands of connectors on a single aircraft, finding the right partner becomes increasingly more important.”

AMETEK EIP expanded its capabilities in anticipation of rapid increases in production of commercial and military aircraft, including all electronic and eVTOL prototypes. This decision makes Hermetic Seal and Sealtron uniquely capable of supporting the most recent supply chain demands

“While the commercial aviation sector was stagnant over the last couple of years, our brands have remained strong,” Shanahan said. “In fact, we made the decision to build upon our strengths and expand our footprint so we’re poised to support the sector as it begins to ramp up.”

The team will be at the Farnborough International Airshow from July 18 to 22 in Farnborough, England, sharing its thoughts on how the Hermetic Seal and Sealtron brands are supporting the global supply chain challenges in the aerospace industry.
