Cognitive techniques allow wireless networks to expand into TV ‘white space’
Data networks sharing spectrum with TV channels could hold the key for future rural broadband provision and ease the data burden on 3G and 4G networks. But how can interference be avoided? Sally Ward-Foxton investigates.
New Generation of LIN Transceiver Targets GM and Ford Platforms
LIN (Local Interconnect Network) nodes continue exponential growth rate at GM and Ford. To address this growing need for LIN transceivers Melexis introduces its next Generation LIN transceiver IC for LIN Bus systems according to the SAE J2602 standard. The MLX80020BB extends Melexis’ existing product line of LIN transceivers and System Basis Chips as well as fully integrated LIN solutions.
Melexis achieves MOST compliance twice over for Fiber optic Transceivers in SMD package
Melexis recently received the declaration of compliance for both its MLX75608 and MLX75605 Fiber optic transceivers. These fiber optic transceivers (FOTs) are suitable for 25Mbit/s (LVTTL) and 150Mbit/s (LVDS) communication respectively. The double compliance confirms the role of Melexis as innovative driver towards Surface Mount Device (SMD) solutions that will offer increased performance at lower cost.
Telit Presents Brand New, Energy Efficient, Wireless M-Bus Module for 169 MHz
Telit Wireless Solutions, is launching a new module featuring Wireless M-Bus transfer technology in October 2011. The new ME50-169 module features 169 MHz and hence is ideally suited for smart gas, water, heating or electricity meters. These smart meters automatically transmit consumption data to the utility companies which increases the accuracy and transparency of bills, offers better customer service and helps improve energy efficiency.
Roving Networks Announces the RN-XVee, a Low Power Wi-Fi module for Wireless Sensor, Remote Control and Machine-to-Machine Applications
Roving Network have announced the RN-XVee, its new ultra-low power, through hole 802.11 b/g module that is drop in compatible with existing 802.15.4 modules. The RN-XVee is designed for customers looking to migrate their existing systems to standard Wi-Fi based Internet protocol (IP) without modifying hardware.
Industry’s Smallest, Most Integrated IO-Link Transceiver Fits in Industrial Applications When Other Solutions Will Not
Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX14821, the smallest IO-Link physical-layer transceiver in the industry. Encased in a 2.5mm x 2.5mm WLP, the MAX14821 saves more than 60% compared to competitors' packages and enables designs to fit in tiny housings. An extra set of a digital output and input plus dual integrated low-dropout linear regulators provide added flexibility with complex sensor modules. This IO-Link transceiver is optimized for...
