Artesyn Embedded Technologies Launches New COTS Fail-Safe System Designed to be Certified to SIL4 for Train Control and Rail Signaling
At the Innotrans exhibition today, Artesyn Embedded Technologies announced the ControlSafe Platform, one of the first embedded computing systems to use commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) components to create a fail-safe computing platform designed to be SIL4 certified for a wide range of train control and rail signaling applications. The ControlSafe Platform enables rail application developers and system integrators to substantially accelerate time-...
ESD & surge protector removes the need for X-ray inspection
Offering sharper triggering than Zener diodes or varistors to provide a superior protection solution, Diodes Incorporated introduces an AEC-Q101 qualified ESD and surge protector. According to the manufacturer, the D24V0L1B2LPSQ offers improved protection, greater reliability and easier inspection during manufacturing, when compared to Zener-based and varistor devices.
Bayonet connectors meet European Rail Agency requirements
ITT has highlighted its High Temperature Bayonet (HTB series) connectors at InnoTrans 2014. Claimed to deliver unparallelled durability and reliability in the most extreme conditions, the HTB devices meet the high standards of the Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI) set out by the European Rail Agency (ERA).
WiFi modules support 802.11b/g/n wireless standards for IoT
To support the latest 802.11b/g/n wireless standards for the IoT market, the G2 WiFi modules have been released by Connect One. The modules incorporate the latest wireless standards at up to 40% savings, while creating a no-change upgrade path for customers. Suitable applications include security, industrial control, smart grid, asset management and point of sale.
Rail antenna upgrades trains to 4G/LTE
Allowing double-decker trains and trains which travel in tunnels to be upgraded to the 4G/LTE standard, the SENCITY Rail MIMO antenna has been introduced by HUBER+SUHNER. The antenna, which is 40mm in height, is suitable for the European market as it supports a frequency range of 790-2700MHz.
Test solution readied for LPDDR4 2015 adoption
JEDEC LPDDR4 is slated for adoption in 2015, not too far off. It builds on the current generation of LPDDR3 technology and will deliver improved data rates up to 4.26 Gb/sec and use an ultra-low voltage core to reduce power consumption by approximately 35 percent to enhance performance in mobile devices like smartphones, wearables & tablets.
