electronica virtual – here are the highlights
electronica will take place digitally for the first time from November 9th to 12th, 2020. Participants in the virtual event can expect solutions and products from more than 200 international exhibitors, a four-day forum and conference program and special events such as the CEO Round Table and the startup funding program electronica fast forward.
In times of international travel restrictions, electronica virtual hopes to offer the global electronics industry a four-day digital industry gathering consisting of innovations, knowledge transfer and discussions and information on the latest trends.
Key players at the digital trade fair and in the online forum program
More than 200 international companies are taking part in the digital trade fair and conference. The companies presenting at virtual trade fair stands include industry giants such as Avnet, Harting, NXP Semiconductors, Rohde & Schwarz, Rutronik, Samsung Semiconductor and STMicroelectronics. In addition to the exhibitors’ digital presentations, there will be a four-day online forum program.
On November 11th and 12th, the Cyber Security Forum will demonstrate practical examples of security in the digital world from the automotive, embedded, medical and IoT sectors. At the four-day Embedded Forum, participants will gain insights into innovations and trends from the worlds of software, connectivity and low design.
The Power Electronics Forum will show what the future of power supply and battery systems will look like from November 9 to 12. You can gain access to the trade fair and forum offerings by registering on the electronica website for free.
Special events with CEO Round Table and Start-Up Award
Over the years, the CEO Round Table has become a real institution within electronica. It will take place as a live stream as part of electronica virtual. On Tuesday, November 10th at 11:00am (CEST), top-class industry representatives will discuss the question, ‘how will the electronics industry develop in times shaped by COVID-19?’. Those taking part in the one-hour discussion will include:
- Jean-Marc Chery, STMicroelectronics
- Gunther Kegel, Pepperl + Fuchs
- Reinhard Ploss, Infineon
- Kurt Sievers, NXP Semiconductors
To support the big players of tomorrow, electronica will be bestowing the third ever fast forward Award, which honors the innovative ideas of young companies. This year, around 20 international startups have already submitted their products: from the thinnest inductive charging cable in the world to the cloud-based crop monitoring in real time.
Young companies can still apply for the award online until October 31. The winner will be announced on November 11 and will receive a free stand at electronica 2022, as well as a marketing package totaling €75,000. All information and the presentations of the start-ups are available online.
Digital knowledge transfer at the electronica conferences
In addition to the digital trade fair offerings, electronica virtual provides an online conference program on the future topics of electronics. Events will commence on Monday, November 9th with the electronica Automotive Conference. The likes of Amazon Web Services, Google and Mektec will be taking part in discussions on topics such as e-mobility and connectivity.
The electronica Medical Conference on November 9th and 10th will deal with innovative medical technologies. Speakers from representatives of GE Healthcare, Maxim Integrated and Texas Instruments will discuss security and mobile health monitoring.
Likewise, the electronica Embedded Platforms Conference will take place over two days. On November 11th and 12th, experts from ON Semiconductor, Phoenix Contact, Qualcomm and Würth Elektronik will discuss machine learning or sensors.
Over three whole days, the Wireless Congress will address the development of systems and mobile applications in various sectors such as automotive, industry and medicine.
Participation in individual conferences is subject to charge. The electronica website offers an overview of the prices.
