Cincoze, a provider of rugged embedded computers, is addressing the growing opportunities presented by the rise of Edge AI.

With five series spread across two main product lines, the company offers solutions designed to meet the demanding performance, reliability, and environmental adaptability needed for edge AI applications.

The Rugged Computing – DIAMOND series includes three high-performance options: DV, DX, and DS, featuring the latest Intel Raptor Lake-S Core CPUs. These systems are engineered for flexibility in size, function, and expandability to suit different environmental and application needs.

Meanwhile, the GPU Computing – GOLD series, consisting of GM and GP models, supports MXM and PEG GPU cards, providing robust processing power for industrial-scale image recognition, data-driven decision-making, and machine learning tasks.

Edge AI in manufacturing: enhancing quality control and defect detection

Edge AI applications are making significant impacts in manufacturing, particularly in quality control and defect detection. Technologies such as automated optical inspection (AOI) and deep learning are now used to automatically detect defects in PCBAs, including surface irregularities, soldering issues, and missing or misplaced components. These systems help to sort boards efficiently, improving throughput and reducing errors.

Cincoze’s GP-3000 is an optimal solution for such tasks. Equipped with an Intel Xeon/Core i CPU, up to 64GB of memory, and support for two high-end 250W full-length GPU cards, it is built to meet the complex demands of AOI systems. Its connectivity options, including high-speed I/O ports for sensors and cameras, ensure integration with various components.

The GP-3000 also excels in harsh environments, with its wide operating temperature range (–40 to 70°C), broad voltage input (9–48VDC), and compliance with the US military’s MIL-STD-810G standard for shock and vibration resistance. Cincoze has incorporated three patented technologies in the GP-3000 to ensure its durability and adaptability:

  • Dustproof Cooling Mechanism (Patent no. I778522) keeps heat under control while preventing dust ingress
  • Scalable with Expansion Modules (Patent no. I779496) allows the installation of full-length GPU cards or other PCIe add-ons via the GEB expansion box
  • GPU Card Mounting Bracket (Patent no. I763318) secures GPU cards in high-vibration settings

Smart drilling in offshore oil fields: leveraging edge AI for efficiency

In the energy sector, modern drilling operations are increasingly relying on Edge AI to optimise processes. Smart drilling systems use edge computing and AI to collect and analyse real-time data, including geological, pressure, and temperature readings. AI algorithms are then applied to reduce drilling time, improve safety, and enhance overall efficiency.

Cincoze’s DS-1402 rugged industrial computer is a strong candidate for such applications. Powered by a 13th or 12th Gen Intel Core i9 processor, the DS-1402 supports up to 64GB of DDR5 memory and offers two PCIe expansion slots, one of which can accommodate an add-on card up to 110W. Its diverse I/O options, including LAN, USB, COM, and DIO, allow seamless connection to various sensors and other devices.

Built for reliability, the DS-1402 can withstand extreme temperatures (–40 to 70°C), operates within a 9V–48VDC power input range, and includes overvoltage, overcurrent, and ESD protection. With compliance to both MIL-STD-810G and UL 62368-1 standards, the DS-1402 is designed to function stably in the challenging conditions of offshore drilling.

Cincoze continues to evolve its offerings, ensuring that its rugged embedded systems meet the rigorous demands of Edge AI in various industries. Whether in manufacturing or energy, the company’s solutions are helping to push the boundaries of what is possible at the edge.
