Schaffner has announced two new filters with very high attenuation performance for universal single-phase applications. These two new filter series complement the proven FN 2000 filter family and are respectively, the FN 2030 and FN 2090.
The single-stage FN 2030 version is for suppression of symmetric interference signals while the multi-stage FN 2090 version is used both for symmetric as well as for asymmetric interference signals.

The new filters are designed for a maximum continuous operation voltage of 250VAC at 50Hz or 60Hz and for rated currents from 1 to 30A (20A for FN 2090). As well as the standard version, both filter series are also available as safety or medical versions with low leakage currents and operate over the frequency range DC - 400Hz. The FN 2030 and FN 2090 filter series can be supplied with surge pulse protection to IEC 61000-4-5 as an option.

Medical versions of the filters are supplied without Y-capacitors and for safety critical applications low capacitance models offer low leakage currents. The filters have all required international safety agency approvals, calculated MTBF of up to 2,200,000 hours and are compatible with the RoHS Directive.

The new filters are designed for chassis mounting, meet IP40 protection requirements and have a number of terminal options to suit any application. All 2030 and 2090 filters employ chokes with high permeable core material and provide exceptional conducted attenuation performance and excellent thermal behaviour. Operating temperature range is -25 to + 100°C.

Typical applications for Schaffner’s new FN 2030 and FN 2090 filters include; electrical and electronic equipment, consumer goods, household equipment, electronic data processing equipment, office automation and Datacomms equipment and other electrically noisy applications requiring high filter performance.
