A new K-band silicon SATCOM Rx quad-core integrated circuit from Anokiwave is now available from distributor Richardson Electronics. The highly-integrated AWS-0102 is intended for satellite communications applications. The device supports four dual-polarisation radiating elements with full programmable polarisation flexibility. It provides 22dB gain with a noise figure of 3.4dB.

Additional features include gain compensation over temperature and temperature reporting.

The new IC offers ESD protection on all pins, operates from +1.8 V, and is packaged in a 56-lead, 7 mm x 7 mm PQFN for easy installation in planar phased array antennas.

“The AWS-0102 is another example of how Anokiwave is opening new markets for AESA multi-element beam forming ICs,” said Chris Marshall, Vice President Global Sales of Richardson Electronics’ Power & Microwave Technologies group. “Our global, highly-technical sales team is eager to promote this device and the entire series of Anokiwave Silicon AESA Quad Core ICs to existing and prospective customers.”

Robert Donahue, Anokiwave CEO, added, “This latest product release is the second in our series of Silicon AESA Quad Core ICs that we believe will set a new standard in the industry for AESA multi-element beam forming ICs, as Anokiwave continues to innovate and deliver parts that will revolutionize multiple markets with affordable solutions.”

Additional key features of the AWS-0102 include:

  • Flexible polarisation (RHCP, LHCP, linear)
  • 5-bit phase control (LSB=11.25°)
  • 5-bit gain (LSB=0.5dB, DR=15.5dB)
  • 0.3W DC power
