Workshops on Optical Technologies at LASER World of PHOTONICS 2017
High power optical fibres are posing particular challenges on interconnection technology. A workshop organised by AMS Technologies on 27th June 2017 at the LASER World of PHOTONICS 2017 trade fair in Munich, Germany, will take a detailed look into these challenges and the best strategies to master them.
In addition to that AMS Technologies is organising an EPIC workshop on Optical Adhesives at the trade fair on 28th June, including talks on optical bonding, requirements for optical adhesives, micro dispensing technology and curing by means of UV-LEDs.
AMS Technologies is providing valuable specialist knowledge of practical relevance to interested visitors of the LASER World of PHOTONICS 2017 trade fair. Two 90 minute workshops enable participants to update their knowledge on interconnection technology for high power optical fibres or to learn all relevant facts about optical adhesives.
Laser sources, optical amplifiers and beam delivery systems are demanding continuously higher power in optical fibres. Those high signal or pump powers as well as large spot sizes or mode areas and large fibre diameters pose interconnection difficulties including signal loss, mode conversion, polarization crosstalk, reflections, localised heating, end facet damage and even catastrophic device failure.
The AMS Technologies workshop 'Interconnection and Fusion Splicing of High Power Optical Fibres' on Tuesday 27th June 2017 will show various technologies and solutions to address these difficulties including mode field matching technologies, high power fibre terminations, modal content measurements as well as large diameter fibre cleavers and fusion splicers. In this workshop Dr. Andrew D. Yablon, Founder and CEO of Interfiber Analysis, will impart conceptual and practical knowledge about interconnection technology for high power single mode, few mode and multimode optical fibres to designers and users of lasers, optical amplifiers and beam delivery systems.
The instructor as well as AMS Technologies technical experts will be present for discussions during a light lunch provided after the presentation. This workshop builds upon a basic knowledge of optical waveguide theory and will be held in English language. Attendance fee is €130 -students are granted a deduction of €50. Further details and an online registration form can be found at here.
Optical adhesives promise to be the material of choice for the precise and permanent joining of optical elements. But what type of adhesive is the right one for my application? Will it meet all my requirements like optical absorption, refracting index or durability? How to dispense very small amounts? And what about curing?
All these topics will be addressed at the 'EPIC Workshop on Optical Adhesives' during LASER World of PHOTONICS 2017 trade fair in Munich, Germany, organised and sponsored by AMS Technologies. On 28th June 2017, four technical experts will present all relevant facts and trends around optical adhesives.
After the opening keynote on 'Precision Joining of Optical Elements by Adhesive Bonding', held by Mr. Matthias Mohaupt, Research Fellow at Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering, Ms. Miwako Fujii, Assistant Manager at NTT Advanced Technology, will also give a keynote speech on requirements and a technical outline for optical adhesives from an industrial perspective. Micro dispensing of optical adhesives will then be the topic of a talk by Mr. Kaoru Okuyama, Managing Director at Musashi Engineering Europe, who will provide an introduction to the world of micro dispensing technologies. And last but not least Mr. Romain Guillaume, Co-Founder of UWAVE, will shed some light on the transition of the UV-curing process from lamp to UV-LEDs.
All presentations of the EPIC workshop will be held in English language and the technical experts will be present for discussions during a light lunch provided after the presentations. Attendance fee is €70, EPIC members and AMS Technologies customers can register for a special rate of €50. Further details and an online registration form can be found at here.
