Pickering Interfaces at Battery Tech Expo 2024
Pickering Interfaces is set to showcase its range of modular signal switching and sensor simulation solutions for electronics testing and verification, including battery management system (BMS) testing, at the Battery Tech Expo 2024.
The event will be held on 10th October 2024 at the Eriksbergshallen exhibition hall in Gothenburg, Sweden, with Pickering located at stand 40.
As the battery industry undergoes significant transformation, with major investments in next-generation battery technologies and energy storage, the Battery Tech Expo remains the premier event for professionals across the Nordic battery industry value chain. The expo will feature the latest advancements in battery management systems, energy storage, EV and mobile device batteries, manufacturing, advanced materials, R&D, design, safety, and second-life solutions.
Paul Bovingdon, Simulation Product Manager at Pickering Interfaces, explained the importance of modular PXI-based switch and simulation products in BMS test systems: "With the increasing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), one significant challenge to be tackled is the effective testing and validation of battery management systems (BMS). Using modular PXI-based switch and simulation modules offers many advantages in BMS HIL (hardware-in-the-loop) test, including flexibility to optimise the test system to meet exact requirements; simple modification to address evolving needs; and an open, industry-standard architecture that promotes system longevity and mitigates obsolescence, while providing seamless integration of multi-vendor instrumentation modules."
Pickering’s BMS HIL test demonstration at the expo will include the following key products:
- 8-slot PXI chassis with a PXI embedded controller
- PXI battery simulator module – simulating batteries in a stacked architecture
- PXI programmable resistor module – for testing BMS isolation resistance
- PXI dual programmable power supply – simulating a battery charger
- PXI 2A 52xSPDT and 26xSPDT relay modules
- PXI 32-channel digital I/O module
- PXI USB hub
This demo will illustrate how these modular products can be employed in BMS test systems, delivering flexible, scalable solutions that cater to the evolving needs of battery technology and energy storage.
The Battery Tech Expo 2024 will provide a platform for Pickering Interfaces to highlight its contributions to advancing battery management system testing, and attendees will have the opportunity to see firsthand how these solutions can address the challenges of modern energy storage systems.
