NI will be showcasing its comprehensive EV battery test lineup at Battery Show Europe.

The company’s battery test lineup includes customisable, solution-level products that help customers automate test workflows and access data insights to enable them to get to market faster and more efficiently.

With its recent acquisition of NH Research, Heinzinger Automotive, Kratzer Automation and SET, in addition to its global partner network, NI’s capabilities for EV testing give automakers a scalable network of products, solutions, services and support spanning the circular battery lifecycle – from R&D to validation to production, and to second life and remanufacturing.

“Testing of EV batteries places immense strain on engineering resources, with new and changing test requirements meaning there is a need for continuous changes and upgrades,” said Manuel Hofmann, Chief Field Marketing Manager, NI. “NI’s solutions for EV battery testing help Tier 1 suppliers and automakers adapt to the complexity and scale of EV battery testing through enhanced customization, automation and connection of data across the entire battery test workflow. This enables NI’s customers to ensure performance and accelerate time to market, and to scale their testing as required.”

NI products and solutions at Battery Show Europe include:

Battery Test

NI’s latest solution for battery validation testing will be revealed at Battery Show Europe. The product has been designed to help electric vehicle and battery manufacturers quickly scale to achieve high volume battery test requirements. In addition, attendees can see NI’s full battery test lineup that includes software for lab and resource management, scalable power electronics, differentiated measurement capabilities and advanced battery analytics. ProNES will also be displaying a cell tester with a field-proven concept for digitalized and automated battery testing in the NI booth.

Cell Quality

Next, NI will showcase its solutions for cell quality testing. With growing demand for batteries, manufacturers face the challenge of producing high-quality battery cells at large scale while minimising defects and maximising throughput. To achieve this, they must implement effective testing and inspection techniques throughout the manufacturing process. NI’s demo will showcase the most relevant testing and inspection techniques for battery cells, including electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and alternating current internal resistance (ACIR).

BMS Validation

Finally, NI will be exhibiting its solution for battery management system (BMS) validation, in a joint demo with its partners ALIARO and Opal-RT. This demo will combine simulating cell monitoring devices (CMDs) of the BMS using NI’s FPGA technology with IP from Opal-RT, as well as simulating real cells with the ALIARO AL-4010 board. This gives BMS developers the most flexibility when developing new functions for their systems.
