New high voltage SMD Reed Relays at productronica 2023
Pickering Electronics, a manufacturer of high-performance reed relays, will present its latest high voltage surface mount reed relay, Series 219, at stand #452 in Hall A1 during productronica.
The event, scheduled from 14 to 17 November at Messe München in Munich, Germany, is a leading trade fair for the electronics manufacturing industry. productronica, alongside SEMICON Europa, displays a broad spectrum of technologies and solutions, encompassing semiconductor manufacturing, microelectronics, battery production, cleanroom technology, and logistics.
Robert King, Product Development Manager at Pickering Electronics, remarked: “As Pickering continuously improves its reed relay offering for instrumentation and ATE, we expect to see interest at productronica from diverse sectors and applications, including mixed-signal semiconductor test, high-end cable and backplane test, signal switching in medical electronics, EV charging, solar cell monitoring, and high voltage instrumentation.”
The new Series 219 high voltage SMD (surface mount device) reed relay from Pickering is suitable for mixed signal semiconductor testers, medical equipment testing, EV (electric vehicle) charge point testing, and monitoring solar cell photovoltaic efficiency. Capable of switching up to 1kV, this relay available in 2 Form A and 1 Form B packages. Pickering offers various contact configurations with coil voltages of 3V, 5V, or 12V. The switch stand-off is up to 3kV in the 1 form A package, up to 2kV in the 1 form B package, and up to 1.5kV in the 2 form A package.
Also featured at productronica is the Series 104HT, functioning in environments with temperatures up to 125°C, and special variants reaching up to 150°C. Part of Pickering's miniature high-voltage reed relay range, it comes in the SIL package with a 6.35mm pitch, offering a stand-off voltage capacity of up to 4kV. Series 104 reed relays are available in 1 Form A, 2 Form A, and 1 Form B configurations, with coil options of 5V, 12V, or 24V, and optional internal diode protection. Mercury wetted devices are also available, rated at 1500V DC minimum stand-off, 500V DC switching at up to 50W.
Additionally, Pickering will showcase its 67ES/68ES SIL/SIP reed relay families. Series 67 and 68 relays, with former-less coils, come in a compact package measuring 58.4 x 12.6 x 14.5mm. Series 67 features PCB connections to switch and coil, providing the highest power switch capability in Pickering's portfolio – up to 200W. Series 68 devices have PCB connections to the coil and flying leads to the switch, isolating high voltage from the PCB.
Electrostatic screening protection is available for Series 104, 67, and 68 relays, shielding against noise between the coil drive and high voltage circuits. This screening complements Pickering's internal mu-metal screen, preventing issues due to magnetic interaction in closely stacked devices.
Pickering Group will also display modular signal switching and simulation technologies for electronic test and verification from Pickering Interfaces, along with cables and connectors from Pickering Connect.
