LASER World of PHOTONICS 2015 ends successfully

Both, exhibitors and visitors, were highly satisfied. The attendees were talking about how laser and optics technology can boost the technological development of Indian industry and support the ‘Make in India’ initiative by the Indian government in various sectors.

Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, said: “The 4^th edition of LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA continues to attract the key exhibitors and business partners to the trade fair. We are also happy to see the focus on laser applications in manufacturing with industry specific keynote addresses and invited speakers. The trade fair also presents the opportunity to brainstorm, do business and make friends. It is a great networking platform and with the conference Application of Lasers in Manufacturing 2015 (CALM 2015), it offers the biggest technology conference for lasers in India, along with a dedicated area for photonics.”

For the first time the new Machine Vision Pavilion gave an insight into industrial image processing and how it can help to optimise production processes, improve quality and make production monitoring more efficient.

Mr. Mohmmed Hidayath, National Sales Manager, Laser Division, TRUMPF India, said: “We have been participating in LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA for the past four years and are happy to see a tremendous improvement in the current edition at New Delhi. This industry is particularly an integrator and an end-user industry and hence the exhibitor numbers have grown. The promotion of the show is definitely aggressive and we are now looking at more end-user participation in the future editions. Our focus continues to be in the automotive sector and we will continue to participate in the subsequent editions of the trade fair.”

Some of the most important research institutes for laser and photonics technology in India, Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CGCRI), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy & New Materials (ARCI) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, gathered for the first time at a specific Research Pavilion and initiated an exchange between researchers and industry representatives about the existent and required fields of research in India as well as the transfer process of scientific findings into application oriented developments.

Dr. Lalit Kumar, Managing Director, Laser Science Services, appreciated the presence of scientific representatives at the show: “LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA is a growing exhibition and we are impressed with the visitor footfall and the response that we have received. We are primarily associated with the scientific laser market and have showcased machinery, which can be used in automation, defence, aviation and others.”

LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA 2015, also witnessed accompanying programs held concurrently, which gave further insights into laser solutions for the diverse user industries. At the International Conference on Application of Lasers in Manufacturing 2015 (CALM 2015) organised by ARCI, more than 120 delegates informed themselves and exchanged views about all aspects of laser processing of materials and new technology developments in micromachining, cladding, hardening, welding, cutting, drilling and repair & refurbishment.

Padmanabham, Associate Director, ARCI, Hyderabad, said: “We are happy to note that the LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA and the concurrent conference on manufacturing had great participants, the largest ever in terms of exhibitors, scientists and students. The 4th edition of the trade fair and the first in New Delhi has definitely left its mark both in terms of visitors and business partners. The Government of India is promoting the concept of ‘Make in India‘ and to realize this concept or idea, lasers can be a very important tool as they cater to semiconductor processing, nuclear, automobile and aerospace which all come under the ‘Make in India‘ umbrella”.

Mr. Bhupinder Singh, CMO & Member of the Management Board, MMI India, said: “LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA 2015 was a huge success and, to accommodate the growing number of participants and exhibitors, we had to add a new hall. This only denotes how the exhibition is succeeding in making its mark in the industry. We are very happy with the achievement of this year’s edition.”

This year’s edition was supported by the Government of India: The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, the Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY) and associations like the Indian Laser Association (ILA), the Optical Society of India (OSI), ARCI and saw participation from country pavilions like China, Germany, Japan, Lithuania and the UK. India’s largest trade fair for lasers, precision optics and photonics saw the entire industry in an international setting, tailored to the specific needs of the Indian market.

Next year, the trade fair will be hosted in Bengaluru from 21^st to 23^rd September, 2016 at BIEC, Bengaluru.
