Microsemi have announced that they will be giving a technical presentation at HW/Expo, a hardware developers’ conference taking place near Cambridge, UK, in April 2016. Peter Trott, a Senior FAE at Microsemi will explain and demonstrate SmartFusion2, a System-On-Chip device that is being widely used to ensure network security in industrial, military and medical systems.

Taking place near Cambridge on the 27th and 28th April 2016, HW/Expo will include an exhibition of hardware development tools and technologies, a stream of presentations from industry experts and a series of half day workshops. Topics covered will include memory technology, touch technology, circuit design, ASIC and FPGA design, test equipment, display technology and reference design platforms.

"With the growth of IoT and the concept of independent machines talking to each other, security of the network and operation is of paramount importance," said Peter Trott. "To guarantee this security, cryptography can be used in the form of digital certificates or public key certificates to prevent man in the middle attacks. I will be explaining how silicon solutions are available to help developers address this emerging challenge."

Microsemi Corporation offers a comprehensive portfolio of semiconductor and system solutions for communications, defence & security, aerospace and industrial markets. Their products include high-performance and radiation-hardened analogue mixed-signal integrated circuits, FPGAs, SoCs and ASICs.

The SmartFusion2 SoC FPGA addresses fundamental requirements for advanced security, high reliability and low power in critical industrial, military, aviation, communications and medical applications. It integrates an inherently reliable flash-based FPGA fabric, a 166MHz ARM CortexTM-M3 processor, advanced security processing accelerators, DSP blocks, SRAM, eNVM and industry-required high-performance communication interfaces all on a single chip.

"IoT and device security seem to be the two big themes of this year’s conference, so I feel sure that this presentation will be well attended,” said Richard Blackburn, Conference Manager. “Microsemi are a leader in this field, so we are pleased to have them presenting at this year’s HW /Expo.”

HW/Expo is free to attend for hardware developers and technical managers. The conference is funded through sponsorship from a broad range of industry suppliers such as JTAG Technologies, Intelligent Display Solutions and Blue Chip Technology.
