In booth 109 at European Microwave Week (EuMW) 2014, Computer Simulation Technology is previewing CST STUDIO SUITE 2015, the upcoming version of its flagship electromagnetic (EM) simulation tool. Used to model systems and optimise designs, the upcoming version integrates solvers covering a broad range of frequencies and geometrical scales. The solvers are complemented by more specialised technology for applications such as PCBs, cables, thermal analysis and charged particle devices.

With devices becoming increasingly compact and connected, even a single design task can involve multiple simulation disciplines from different fields of engineering. CST STUDIO SUITE 2015 has tightened the links between the different simulation domains with synthesis and design tools introduced so that users can expand beyond just EM field simulation. Making it possible to generate initial designs quickly and accurately, Filter Designer 2D and the Phased Array Wizard help antenna engineers get the most out of simulation. These tools speed up the EM design process, complementing Antenna Magus' antenna synthesis capability.

The solvers have also been enhanced. The frequency domain solver is now more powerful and versatile, simplifying the simulation of extremely large and complex multiport models such as multi-pin connectors or densely populated antenna arrays. Nearfield sources have also been added to the frequency domain and the asymptotic solvers, enabling them to be more easily linked to simulations using other solver types.

High-performance computing features have been added to CST STUDIO SUITE 2015. Simulating very large models, which can generate many gigabytes of field data, has been made more efficient thanks to the ability to access high-performance storage on computer clusters. Support for the Intel Xeon Phi co-processor increases the range of hardware acceleration options for users.

Dr. Peter Thoma, Managing Director, R&D, CST, comments: "European Microwave Week is always a good opportunity for us to talk to engineers about the latest trends in the field. We're excited to be able to unveil CST STUDIO SUITE 2015 there, and look forward to hearing visitors' feedback."

CST also has a full schedule of presentations at its booth at EuMW, including presentations, demonstrations and talks from our customers covering metamaterials, antenna design and the link between simulation and measurement.

CST STUDIO SUITE 2015 is due for release at the end of Q1 2015.
