Digi-Key Sees China Sales Surge
Digi-Key Electronics says its business in China experienced double-digit growth as well as significant customer count gains in 2015. The distributor cites investment in infrastructure, expanded product offering, continued development of design tools, and localised customer service and RMB currency options.
Our core strength is the number of components we have in stock and available for immediate shipment, with access to over 4M via our website,” said Dave Doherty, President and COO. “A design engineer does not have to compromise when working with Digi-Key at any phase during the design process. Similarly, those same efficiencies are in play for high-mix/low volume production needs as well.”
With applications such as the Internet of Things (IoT) growing Digi-Key now stocks 10,000+ sensors and has added tens-of-thousands of components in the IoT space.
It is also carrying over 21,000 development boards and modules in stock; to enable design engineers to start design development and get to market faster.
Offices located in Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, offer in-country sales, customer service, and 24x7 technical support to meet the evolving needs of local design engineers and manufacturers. “Despite the large size of the Chinese market already, we believe we are only in the early days of a very exciting future,” commented Doherty. “China continues to graduate more engineers than any other country which will continue to drive innovation through new product development. We want to re-enforce the idea that we are there to support that innovation during every step of the process, from concept to production.”
Digi-Key will be exhibiting at electronica China in Shanghai (March 15-17).
