At electronica 2014, Vishay Intertechnology will be exhibiting a range of it's capacitors, resistors, inductors, diodes, power ICs, optoelectronics and power MOSFETs. The event takes place on the 11th to 14th November 2014 at the Munich Trade Fair Centre in Munich, Germany, and the company will be in its main booth A5.142-143 and Automotive Innovation booth A6.A13-A15.

Available in top-view, surface mount packages measuring 5x4x0.9mm, two automotive-grade high-speed silicon PIN photodiodes have been introduced by Vishay. The VEMD5010X01 and VEMD5110X01, which offer a large sensitive area of 7.5mm², provide high radiant sensitivity. Providing a reverse light current of 48µA and a very low dark current of 2nA, the devices are suitable for automotive, industrial, and medical applications.

Seven rectifiers, which are available in a surface-mount SMF (DO-219AB) eSMP package, have also been introduced by the company. The AEC-Q101-qualified rectifiers provide forward currents of 1 and 2A and low forward voltage drops and leakage currents. In doing so the devices reduce power losses and improve efficiency, making them suitable for automotive applications. The seven rectifiers include one standard, three Schottky barrier, and three Hyperfast and Ultrafast FRED Pt rectifiers for high frequency DC/DC converter, freewheeling diode, and power line polarity protection applications in automotive systems, including engine control units (ECU), antilock braking systems (ABS) and LED lighting.

For computer, telecomms, and industrial applications, Vishay has introduced a series of surface-mount polymer tantalum molded chip capacitors with ultra-low ESR down to 30mΩ at +25°C and 100kHz. The devices, which are available in the J, P, A, B, and T (low-profile B) case sizes, feature a wide capacitance range of 3.3-330µF over voltage ratings of 2.5-10V.

A 40V TrenchFET power MOSFET in the 8x8x1.8mm PowerPAK 8x8L package has also been introduced by the company. According to Vishay, the SQJQ402E is both the industry's first AEC-Q101-qualified MOSFET in the 8x8mm footprint and the first in an 8x8mm package with J leads. The device is particularly suitable for automotive applications, providing a space and power saving replacement for D²PAK and DPAK devices.

Featuring punch through and field stop technologies, Vishay has also introduced its 600 and 650V Trench IGBT platform. Offering low collector-to-emitter voltages and fast and soft turn-on and turn-off for low conduction and switching losses, the device is designed to increase efficiency in motor drives, UPS, solar inverters, and welding machine inverters. The device is optimised for use in power modules with Vishay's new FRED Pt Gen 4 Ultrafast soft diodes.

A power metal strip resistor, which combines a 5W power rating with resistance values down to 1mΩ, has also been introduced by the company. Offered in the 2818 case size, the WSHM2818 allows designers to save board space and create smaller end products by replacing larger resistors with similar power capability and multiple devices with lower power ratings. The device is suitable for automotive, industrial, and consumer applications.
