In a time of great uncertainly for the health sector Cambridge Wireless has teamed up with IET, Cambridge Biomedical Campus and EAHSN to highlight the challenges and opportunities technological innovations present to the health service now and in the future. Integrating innovation and increasing research in health and social care are major priorities for the NHS. With this agenda Cambridge Wireless will bring together industry experts to consider and debate how technological innovations in patient pathways can be used to improve the management of chronic long-term conditions.

“The programme addresses some very exciting and challenging issues surrounding the remote monitoring of patients through technology with a strong focus on clinical improvement and patient support, safety and confidentiality.  This event mirrors our purpose - to enable the NHS and academia to work collaboratively with industry - and takes a step towards the developing culture of innovation within the NHS. This event will be invaluable to anyone who has an interest in looking at how technology and innovation can improve patient safety,” commented Dr Robert Winter, OBE and MD of the EAHSN.

The Government has outlined how forging relationships between the healthcare system, academia, industry and the third sector is key to making innovation a core business of the NHS.

Paul Winter of TTP and the Cambridge Wireless Healthcare SIG Champion comments: “This is a timely and significant event and we are very privileged to have the opportunity to hear talks from six leading experts from each of these sectors. We will debate topics relating to the issues of electronic health records, implantable technologies and patient and clinician resistance. Against a background of NHS budget cuts and increasing demands placed on the system by a growing ageing population, we anticipate plenty of stimulating debate.”

Set in the wonderful historic surroundings of Queen’s College, Cambridge, ‘Management of Chronic Long-Term Conditions – Technology Innovation in Patient Pathways’ will be taking place on Thursday 26th September 2013 from 13:30.

Networking opportunities synonymous with Cambridge Wireless will be presented throughout the event which is championed by Paul Winter of TTP, Rob Blake of Philips Research UK, Peter Ferguson of Accenture and Tim Phipps of Cambridge Consultants.
