Atmel will be exhibiting it's IoT products at electronica 2014, which takes place from 11th to 14th November. The company will showcase products which are designed to enable smart, connected and secure devices in the IoT at the show’s SMART HOME, INDUSTRIAL, AUTOMOTIVE and MAKER zones. At 542.A5 Atmel will also launch IoT products.

Low-power embedded processing solutions, including an ARM Cortex-M0+ MCU, a QTouch safety platform for home appliance user interfaces and next-gen 8-bit AVR MCUs, will be on display at the company’s booth.

Atmel will also exhibit solutions designed for secure connectivity, including an FCC-certified WiFi and MCU integrated module, a CAN transceiver family and a next-gen LIN system basis chip portfolio for in-vehicle networking.

Software and tools will also be on display at the company’s booth. These include IAR Systems’ software supporting Atmel’s complete MCU portfolio, the Xplained mini development platform, which is compatible with any Atmel 8-bit megaAVR MCU, and the Xplained Ultra evaluation kit for the prototyping and evaluation of Atmel | SMART SAMA5D4 Cortex A5 based MPUs. The company will also exhibit a security module compatible with all Xplained boards that supports SHA256, AES128 and ECC256 hardware authentication for IoT nodes.

At the SMART HOME zone Atmel will:

  • use the WINC1500 to showcase hardware security with wireless connectivity to a variety of edge nodes applications;
  • demonstrate a wireless connection running on a battery with a graphical interface using an AVR;
  • use the SAM D20 to showcase the QTouch safety library;
  • demonstrate security for the connected world using a ATSHA204 device with stored crypto keys and Zigbee;
  • use the Philips Hue LED colormix bulb, the Philips Lux dimmable bulb and the Philips Tap switch to showcase how users can create their own personal wireless lighting environment through an app on the users’ mobile device.

At the INDUSTRIAL ZONE, Atmel will:

  • demonstrate a smart fridge using the SMART SAM A5D4;
  • use the QTouch technologies to showcase the company’s support of capacitive touch buttons, sliders and wheels.

At the AUTOMOTIVE ZONE Atmel will:

  • showcase a smart, connected car using the XSense, maXTouch, QTouch and 8-bit AVR MCU technologies;
  • use ATA5791, ATA5831, ATA5702, ATA5790N, ATA5833 and Atmel | SMART SAM D21 to demonstrate passive entry and passive start for automobiles.

At the MAKER ZONE Atmel will:

  • demonstrate a remote-controlled Maker Robot using the Atmel | SMART SAM D21;
  • use the SAM D21 device and an RGB light sensor to showcase a Skittles sorting machine.

On 13th November, Atmel’s Kerry Maletsky will discuss the basics of security in every designer’s IoT device in a presentation entitled ‘IoT Security Should Be Hard, By Definition’. The presentation is scheduled to take place from 2 to 2.30pm in A6.353 at the Embedded Forum.
