Antenova will be exhibiting from Hall 5 Stand 141 at embedded world 2016 in Nuremburg, Germany, from 23rd to 25th February. The company will be showcasing: an antenna solution for the TransferJet close-proximity wireless standard; flexible, FPC antennas for WLAN, ISM, Cellular/LTE and GNSS; positioning and tracking solutions (antennas and modules); LTE/4G antennas; and Similis – a brand new antenna for 3G, LTE and MIMO with a very low profile of just 1.6mm.

Revealing a solution for TransferJet

Antenova will be demonstrating a new coupler solution for the close-proximity wireless transfer standard TransferJet. TransferJet gives a simple way to transfer large files between devices, at data rates as high as 375Mb/s, simply by placing the devices close together. It operates in the unlicensed bands in the USA, Europe, Japan, and many other regulatory domains.

Antenova’s TransferJet solution uses a brand new SMD coupler, named Zoma. This antenna operates in the 4.48GHz band and transfers data over distances between one and a few centimetres, in real time, without a cable.

Antenova will show this operating with a TransferJet development platform from a UK partner company, Icoteq. Icoteq’s hardware uses Freescale’s iMX6 quad core processor, comes with a variety of hardware interfaces and measures just 100x100mm.

The demonstration will show how consumers can use TransferJet technology to share multimedia content they have created in real time between devices such as cameras, camcorders, smartphones, digital video recorders, TVs, video game consoles and printers. It also has applications in digital signage, industrial and public information displays.

Antenova is a member of the TransferJet consortium, a group of companies who are co-operating to develop the technology.

FlexiiANT FPC antennas for WLAN, ISM, Cellular/LTE and GNSS

Antenova is adding to its flexiiANT range of FPC antennas introduced last year and will be presenting the latest of these antennas at embedded world. They are effectively 'plug & play' antennas, presenting a fast and easy option for designers, as they can simply fix the antenna to the inside of the cover or housing of an electronic device.

The FPC antennas are manufactured from pliable material that can be folded to fit inside a tight space within a device. Each antenna weighs less than 0.5g. They are 0.15mm thick with a peel-back self-adhesive area to fix them in position. They are supplied with an I-PEX MHF connector and a 1.13mm RF cable in a choice of three lengths.

Antenova currently offers seven antennas in the flexiiANT range, with solutions for the 863-870 and 902-928MHz ISM bands, Dual Band WiFi supporting 2.4-2.5 and 4.9-5.9GHz, GPS and GNSS antennas and options for Cellular/LTE from 698 to 2690MHz.

Samples of these antennas will be on show at embedded world.

New positioning and tracking solutions

Antenova’s M10578-A2 and M10578-A3 modules, as well as the Sinica, Bentoni and Asper antennas, are all designed for tracking and positioning applications.

The M10578-A2 and M10578-A3 are easy, drop-in receiver solutions, offering an easy way to add a location capability to very small consumer devices such as smart watches, navigation devices, OBD II modules, asset tracking, personal safety, sports cameras and equipment. They are based on the popular MediaTek processor.

‘Sinica’, is an antenna operating on the 1559-1609MHz satellite bands, using new materials and a novel design approach to achieve high performance from an ultra-low profile antenna. It operates with GPS, GLONASS, Baidou and Gallileo and provides accurate positioning and global coverage for drones, network devices wearable electronics, and any other portable device or tracking application.

Bentoni and Asper are positioning antennas for all of the global public satellite constellations: GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and GALILEO. They are FPC antennas for use in trackers, portable devices, network components, drones and wearable electronics.

Asper is a dual antenna combining a 1559-1609 with a 2.4-2.5GHz antenna in one part for positioning applications with added WLAN connectivity. This antenna is designed for sports cameras, trackers, dash cams, portable devices, network devices and wearable electronics.

LTE antennas

Antenova is extending its range of cellular antennas to include solutions to meet the requirements of 4G/LTE.

The Lucida SMD antenna for LTE arrived last year. This year Antenova is adding the Mitis and Zhengi antenna solutions, which will be shown for the first time at embedded world 2016.

The Lucida antenna operates in LTE and mobile bands: LTE 700, GSM 850, GSM 900, DCS 1800, PCS 1900, WCDMA 2100, LTE B7 (2500-2690MHz) and LTE B40 (2300-2400MHz). This makes it suitable for use in 4G MiFi routers, Femto/Pico base stations, portable devices, remote monitoring, network devices and wearable devices.

Lucida is a small, ultra-low profile antenna, built to an innovative design, which enables it to maintain a high performance, less susceptible to de-tuning over a wide frequency range and the MIMO requirements of the LTE spectrum, from its position embedded within a wireless device.

Zhenghi is a flexible antenna operating at the 698-798, 824-960, 1710-2170 and 2500-2690MHz frequencies. Mitis is a small flexible antennas operating at the 824-960, 1710-2170 and 2500-2690MHz frequencies.
