Hitachi has announced the introduction of two cost effective 5.7in TFT display modules. The newly designed 5.7in TX14D16VM1CBC and TX14D17VM1BAB display modules feature QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) and VGA (640 x 480 pixels) resolution respectively and join the existing range of compact 5.7in Hitachi TFT LCD display modules.
“With the addition of the new TX14D16 and TX14D17 displays Hitachi’s 5.7” product line up is further improved,” comments Mark Stephenson, Product Marketing Manager for Hitachi Display Products Group, “Customer feedback and our own market research has enabled Hitachi to continue to meet the needs of industrial customers and develop these enhanced, high performance display modules. Hitachi’s design engineers have focussed on improving the efficiency of the materials used in major component design which has resulted in greater economies of scale and hence a more cost effective display solution.”

Excellent levels of contrast and brightness allow exceptional optical performance to be delivered. Low power white LED backlights are employed that have a brightness of 400cd/m² (TX14D16) and 350cd/m² (TX14D17) with a lifetime of 40,000 hours. Both displays have a pin compatible 18-bit RGB CMOS interface that enables up to 262K colours to be displayed.

Both modules feature the same mechanical outline dimensions of 131.0mm (w) x 102.2 mm (h) which allows system and application engineers to offer support for two different display resolutions in the same equipment housing. The new displays are also form factor compatible with other existing displays in Hitachi’s compact 5.7” portfolio.

Touch panel versions of the displays, the TX14D16VM1CPC and TX14D17VM1BPB, are also available, making these modules ideal for many embedded applications from portable handheld equipment to industrial human-machine interfaces.
