STMicroelectronics has announced that registration is now open for two of its most popular North America seminar series: motor- and motion-control solutions and STM8S, ST’s new 8-bit microcontroller. Developed by STMicroelectronics and promoted in partnership with its distributors*, the series of free seminars provide hands-on training that delivers practical design guidance and showcases ST’s leading-edge technologies.
The Motor- & Motion-Control seminar provides a rich technical and practical presentation highlighting basic design principles, drive topologies, new advanced motor-control concepts, real-world application “power saving” examples, and an overview of the tools and software libraries that allow for the simplification and speed-up of designs. The goal is to help engineers improve the performance and efficiency of their products and present design solutions using STMicroelectronics’ exciting ARM Cortex-M3 and other world-class processors.

A second seminar series will deliver an introduction to the STM8S: a microcontroller designed for robust and reliable operation able to meet the demanding requirements of industrial and appliance applications. This seminar focuses on the core, performance and rich set of peripherals of the microcontroller and demonstrates its value and scalability. The technical presentation covers firmware libraries and available tools, including evaluation boards and starter kits.

“We developed these one-day seminars, led by best-in-class facilitators with years of solid design experience and customer support, to provide an interactive introduction to ST’s motor control and 8-bit microcontroller solutions,” said Ashley McGaha, VP of Americas Region GEO Distribution. “Through these free seminars, ST is helping engineers extend high-end control methodologies and architectures to new and exciting applications with an emphasis on energy savings and green solutions.”
