Qoitech enhances Otii Ace Pro with battery charging emulation
Qoitech continues to innovate in embedded system testing with the latest firmware update for Otii Ace Pro, now featuring battery charging emulation.
This advancement allows developers to seamlessly transition between battery discharge and charge phases, providing enhanced testing and validation capabilities for rechargeable devices.
Revolutionising battery emulation with charging capabilities
Listening to the evolving needs of embedded system engineers, Qoitech has expanded the functionality of the Otii Product Suite. With the latest firmware release, Otii Ace Pro not only emulates battery discharging but also introduces an advanced battery charging emulation feature. This enables developers to refine and verify charging algorithms with greater accuracy, ensuring optimal circuit performance.
The updated Otii Ace Pro works seamlessly in two key modes:
- Power Box Mode: Ace Pro acts as though it has a 1-ohm internal resistance, sinking current in response to voltage variations. For every 1mV above the set voltage, it sinks 1mA
- Battery Emulation Mode: Ace Pro accurately mimics battery behaviour by considering internal resistance during both charging and discharging, allowing engineers to validate charging phases and confirm correct circuit behaviour
This automatic functionality streamlines testing workflows, providing a more precise and efficient development process for IoT devices, consumer electronics, and other rechargeable applications.
Comprehensive product suite now available at DigiKey and Mouser
In addition to this update, Qoitech announces that the Otii Toolboxes perpetual license is now available at DigiKey and Mouser. This means that engineers and developers can now access the full Otii Product Suite – including both hardware and software solutions – from these global distributors. The expanded availability ensures that users can seamlessly integrate Otii tools into their workflows with increased accessibility and convenience.
Transforming and modernising embedded system development
With the introduction of battery charging emulation and the broader availability of Otii Toolboxes, Qoitech empowers developers to:
- Evaluate device performance when the Device Under Test (DUT) exceeds voltage limits
- Test and validate charging algorithms
- Ensure charging circuit reliability
- Optimise low-power electronics designs while reducing development cycles and maintenance costs
"Developers at every instance are taking responsibility for building and delivering energy-efficient electronic products," says Björn Rosqvist, Qoitech’s Chief Product Officer. "To achieve this, they must think beyond traditional tools and workflows, and we are here to support them every step of the way."
