Portable low-cost emulator for 8-bit micros
Toshiba has expanded its family of embedded systems tools with the launch of a low-cost and compact ‘all-in-one’ emulator for the development of applications based on the company’s low-power TLCS-870/C 8-bit microcontrollers.
The The RTE870/C Light emulator is fully compatible with Windows XP and Windows 2000 operating systems and connects to the host PC via a USB2.0 full-speed interface. Maximum emulation frequency is 16MHz. As the component parts of the RTE870/C Light system are standardised, users can easily change the target MCU by changing a probe, a target connector and an emulation chip.
Providing an easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI), the debugger software allows the developer to rapidly identify and rectify software problems by setting break points and event triggers, stepping through code and activating a trace function with a capacity of up to 1280 frames. A timer function offers a resolution of 1µs for up to 17 minutes and 100ns for around seven minutes.
To ensure a truly low-cost emulation solution, the price of the RTE870/C Light includes the cost of the debugger software licence. The latest version of the debugger software can be downloaded from the Toshiba website.
