LynuxWorks, Inc. will be premiering its latest secure virtualization technology and high performance safety critical software at MILCOM in San Jose, CA, October 31- November 3, 2010. Both the LynxSecure virtualization technology, designed to meet the highest levels of security certification, and the LynxOS-178 safety critical real-time operating system (RTOS), certified to DO-178B level A, will be demonstrated live on real-world systems in the LynuxWorks booth.
The technology being showcased includes the award winning LynxSecure Separation Kernel and Embedded Hypervisor offering ultimate security without compromising functionality:

* Wave Systems self-encrypting drives in a secure virtual environment running on a standard laptop
* Themis' CoolShell rugged blade server securely running multiple guest operating systems (OSes)
* High Assurance Cross Domain Data Guard application, ported from a single dedicated hardware chipset to a high performance multi-core system running LynxSecure.

Also being demonstrated live at the show is the LynxOS-178 safety-critical commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) RTOS for hard real-time performance and certification to DO-178B with full Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX) compliance:

* Multifunction displays with Presagis OpenGL solution
* Flight information systems
* Future air navigation and cabin management systems.

LynuxWorks' leadership position in military and aerospace systems is solid and long-standing. Offering the most inherently secure and reliable design of virtually any COTS embedded OS, LynuxWorks OSes are proven every day in an array of mission-critical embedded applications and technology programs for the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Joint Forces.

Proven Technology for Demanding Requirements:
LynxOS-178 RTOS offers the most efficient path to DO-178B certification and this is especially true when existing Linux-based applications must be ported. LynxOS-178 is the only commercial product to offer both DO-178B Level A certifiability and the POSIX application programming interface (API). POSIX is an open standard that defines the specifications for the characteristics of OSes, database management systems, data interchange, programming interface, networking and user interface. It enables developers to write their applications for a single target environment in which they can port and run unchanged on a variety of systems that support the POSIX API. POSIX allows an easy migration path from open-source Linux, or other RTOS variants that support the standard to LynxOS-178.

LynxSecure 4.0 provides the most flexible virtualization solution for use in embedded systems. Built from the ground up, and now in its 4th generation, LynxSecure offers the combination of security with functionality, allowing embedded designers to use the latest software and hardware technologies to build complex multi-OSes. Another key feature that LynxSecure offers is the ability to run guest OSes that have Symmetric Multi-processing (SMP) capabilities. The new quad-core devices from Intel makes this feature a reality by allowing one of the guest OSes to run across multiple cores, offering performance never seen before in a virtualized embedded system. For embedded systems that require a sophisticated user interface coupled with networked connectivity, and also hard real-time data response, the combination of LynxSecure with the quad-core Intel core-i7 processor allows all of this functionality to be easily developed, or migrated from existing systems, giving an unprecedented development window for the next generation of complex embedded systems.
