IAR Systems’ powerful tools adds edge to new RX100 series from Renesas Electronics
As the only tools provider covering the entire range of Renesas’ 8/16/32-bit microcontroller families, IAR Systems is proud to announce full support for the newly introduced RX111 microcontrollers. As a result of IAR Systems’ strategic alliance with Renesas, immediate support for the group is available in the world-leading C/C++ development tool suite IAR Embedded Workbench.
IAR Recent enhancements to IAR Embedded Workbench for RX include an extended inline assembler and a new feature-rich text editor and source browser, in addition to the continuous advancements to the sophisticated code optimization techniques. Version 2.42, released today, adds Sampled Graphs in the C-SPY Debugger, which gives users the possibility to display live variable data as graphs during execution. Also added is a migration guide and project converter for easily transferring project from Renesas HEW to IAR Embedded Workbench.
The RX111 group is the first launch in the RX100 series of microcontrollers. The group features a combination of ultra-low power consumption, on-chip connectivity and high performance. It is designed to support a broad range of applications within markets such as mobile healthcare, smart meters, sensors and detectors, and industrial and building automation. Using IAR Embedded Workbench with its powerful multiple-level optimizations, the RX111 group scores 3.08 CoreMarks/MHz on the industry-standard CoreMark benchmarks.
“Performance and efficiency are key factors for embedded developers, and we are very glad that Renesas has once again chosen to team up with IAR Systems to provide their customers with world-leading development tools,” said Stefan Skarin, CEO IAR Systems. “IAR Embedded Workbench and the RX100 series together deliver outstanding performance scores and offer a valuable solution for customers aiming to create true low-power, high-performance applications. To give developers an opportunity to try this powerful combination, we also provide a free 64KB-limited version of the tools.”
“As embedded design needs evolve and become more complex, establishing a robust MCU ecosystem becomes a critical key for success,” said Peter Carbone, Vice President of Marketing, Renesas Electronics America. “With IAR Embedded Workbench for RX, IAR Systems plays an important role in providing MCU solutions that allow embedded systems designers to take full advantage of the possibilities offered across our RX line, and we are pleased to expand our collaboration with IAR Systems to include the new RX111 group of MCUs.”
IAR Embedded Workbench for RX includes the IAR C/C++ Compiler, assembler, linker, library tools and the C-SPY Debugger in a user-friendly integrated development environment. It is available in several editions, including a Baseline edition tailored for developers working with the smaller memory RX microcontrollers. The Baseline edition is limited to a code size of 256 KB but provides full compiler and debugger functionality. Free time-limited evaluation licenses are available, as well as the new 64KB-limited version.
