Artisan Software Tools, the leading independent developer of premium-quality, collaborative modeling tools for complex, mission-critical embedded systems and software, has appointed Tess-com Italia as the Italian distributor for Artisan Studio, its award-winning, all-in-one, standards-based development tool suite.
With its extensive experience of large, complex embedded systems development projects, especially within the military and aerospace markets, the appointment of Tess-com will complement the activities of Artisan’s successful direct sales operation in Italy, whose strategic focus is principally on the development of major account opportunities within the mission and safety-critical markets. Appointed as Artisan’s distributor in Romania in November 2007, Tess-com will use its expertise to help develop new opportunities for Artisan Studio within other market sectors such as industrial automation, telecommunications and automotive.

“This distribution partnership with Tess-com will not only broaden our coverage of the Italian embedded systems market but also increase our ability to meet the significant and growing demand that we are experiencing for Artisan Studio,” said Carmelo Tommasi Commercial Director Italy. “In the last three years we have seen significant usage grow at major Finmeccanica accounts like Aermacchi, Agusta, MBDA, OtoMelara, Selex SI and Thales Alenia Space, and we are extremely pleased to be able to draw on Tess-com’s wealth of experience of selling requirements, modeling and analysis tools and services to further expand in embedded safety-critical applications.”

Providing complete support for UML, OMG SysML and Architectural Frameworks in a single, integrated tool suite, Artisan Studio enables large and often geographically dispersed teams of analysts, systems and software engineers to Work as OneSM, modeling systems and software for the complete project lifecycle from conception to implementation, thereby avoiding the design duplication and inconsistency that often occurs if a mixture of tools and methods are employed in a project. Its powerful, centralized data repository relieves companies of the significant management overhead generally associated with multi-user access and its stable, robust working environment ensures high availability of model information, while securing all valuable data.

Commenting on Tess-com’s partnership with Artisan, Luigi Storci, Managing Director of Tess-com Italia and Romania said: “Artisan is the world’s second largest supplier of embedded modeling tools and a compelling alternative to IBM in this market. Artisan Studio delivers real benefits to customers that give it a genuine edge over competing development tools. Its strength lies in its ability to effectively and easily support large-scale embedded systems and software development projects on which large distributed teams of engineers are deployed. Our intention is to help make it the tool suite of choice for experienced engineering teams in Italy when it comes to embedded projects of this nature.”
