Major events like the Olympics, Euros, Oasis, and the Eras Tour dominated this summer, bringing with them a new surge in fraudulent activities.

NatWest reports that over one in three young people have either fallen victim to fake ticket scams or know someone who has. Now, with Oasis set to make a highly anticipated return after 15 years, fraudsters are seizing the opportunity to exploit eager fans.

In response, Appdome has issued a consumer alert, predicting a significant rise in fraudulent activities related to the upcoming sale of Oasis tickets. The company urges fans to remain vigilant and be cautious of fake ticket scams as the sale approaches.

Jack Kerr, Director at Appdome said: “At Appdome, we expect to see a surge in fraudulent-related activity surrounding the upcoming sale of Oasis tickets and urge fans to stay alert against fake ticket scams. Scammers often use social engineering tactics, like creating fraudulent – and highly convincing – websites and mobile apps to trick fans into buying fake tickets. These scams often lead to malware infecting people’s phones, resulting in data/identity theft and financial loss.

“Our advice to not getting tricked is to always buy tickets from reputable sellers and avoid any unverified mobile apps or websites. Part of this means checking the website’s URL in detail (as some websites can pose as a reputable company) and to buy tickets from mobile apps downloaded from trusted mobile app stores such as Apple App Store or Google Play. With scammers rife at this time of year with last-minute summer holiday deals and concert sale season, it’s vitally important to stick to trusted mobile brands and apps to protect your personal information and your money.

“Stay vigilant and don’t let a scam make you look back in anger.”
