Renesas show Electronic Specifier its new Quick Connect Studio at embedded world 2024
Electronic Specifier visited Renesas’ booth on day three of embedded world 2024 to find out more about their new features and additional coverage for its Quick Connect Studio.
Renesas, a supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, asserts the Quick Connect Studio is the industry’s First-Ever Cloud-based System Development Tool that Enables Rapid Prototypes and Co-Optimisation of Software and Hardware.
Quick Connect Studio, part of Renesas’ Quick Connect, is a browser-based platform, aims to help engineers get products to market quicker. “This software accelerates the system design process by working together with hardware and software via the Cloud,” Rajkumar Thiagarajan Director of Software Engineering at Renesas, told Electronic Specifier during a demo.
This is made possible due to the ease of use interface built into the platform. Engineers can drag and drop device and design blocks on the Cloud to build their solution. After placing each block, users can generate, compile, and build the base software automatically, a major shift towards the no-code paradigm of development.
This is compounded by the Cloud compute power, which provides fast compilation, and the intuitive GUI reduces the learning curve. Quick Connect Studio automatically generates system software that can be iteratively tested on the hardware.
“The presets we have here mean that you don’t have to spend all the additional time building up the base level for your application and can instead work from 90% complete; focusing instead on building your value added propositions,” said Thiagarajan.
But just because steps have been taken to reduce the learning curve doesn’t mean there isn’t complexity. Should users want to build from the base up, then all the files are accessible and can be altered.
Equally, another feature that supports this is the fact that developers can begin working on designs even before they have the physical product, which is an increasingly important prospect in this world of concerns around semiconductor supply chains. With the introduction of real-time code customisation and remote debugging, and using remote board farms, the code can be tested on target hardware dynamically to verify the operation before buying or building the physical board and setting up the test system, reducing potential costs and speeding up the process of building proof of concepts and prototyping system solutions by concurrently working on both software and hardware components of system design.
Available in multiple areas like Europe, US, Japan and more, the platform supports multi-region secure infrastructure deployments around the world for uniform user experience, fastest response and reduced latency. This enables auto-scaling to accommodate multiple concurrent users to access the platform anywhere, anytime.
