Wind River remains RTOS and embedded Linux market leader
According to a study conducted by VDC Research, Wind River has remained the RTOS and embedded Linux market leader. The study of the Embedded/RTOS segment covered the global market for commercially available RTOSs and non-real-time operating systems and other related products and services used in embedded applications.
RTOS accelerates time-to-market for industrial PCs
The Digital Factory division of Siemens has chosen Wind River's VxWorks RTOS as the foundation for its market-leading high-performance industrial PCs. The industrial PCs operate in extremely demanding environments, often directly on the plant floor. Because a standard PC operating system does not always fit the requirements of sophisticated industrial applications, Siemens required an RTOS to execute tasks requiring determinism, fast response tim...
Advanced partitioning aids safety-critical system design
Wind River has introduced a safety profile for the next-gen version of its VxWorks RTOS. The profile adds safety features to VxWorks 7, aimed at the development of safety critical systems in industrial, medical, transportation, aerospace and defense applications. Wind River has enhanced its Virtualisation Profile for VxWorks.
Software enhancements address high-performance security
Security appliance vendors are under growing pressure to better engineer for higher performance in order to meet market needs. Performance bottlenecks are often due to content scanning, including the respective challenges of keeping up with rising volumes of data and increasingly complex new patterns and rule sets.
Latest Linux release jump starts product development
Wind River has released the latest version of Wind River Linux. For maximum flexibility and speedier development, it can now be accessed as binary code, in addition to source code format. The new version is also updated with the current Linux kernel, toolchain, and user space based on the upcoming Yocto Project release.
Security profile safeguards IoT devices
A security profile, designed to protect IoT devices, data and intellectual property on the VxWorks 7 RTOS, has been released by Wind River. The Security Profile protects connected devices at every stage, including intellectual property from piracy and code from reverse engineering.
Scalability of RTOS enhanced through visualisation profile
A visualisation profile for the next generation of its RTOS, has been introduced by Wind River. The Virtualization Profile integrates a real-time embedded, Type 1 hypervisor into the core of the the VxWorks 7 Core Platform, separating its OS from packages such as the file system or networking stack. This allows individual applications to be updated without requiring a rework of the entire system, increasing...
Industry-specific profiles enhance RTOS
Wind River has announced industry-specific profiles for the latest version of its VxWorks real-time operating system (RTOS). The networking, industrial, medical and consumer profiles enhance VxWorks 7 with highly relevant capabilities that help customers meet the necessary requirements to address market opportunities created by the Internet of Things (IoT).
