Altair is supporting the Vortex Bladeless.The project focuses on the development of generators able to capture the kinetic wind energy by 'vortex shedding' and transform it into electricity. This technology seeks to overcome issues related to traditional wind turbines such as maintenance, amortization, noise, environmental impact, logistics and visual aspects.

Inspired by a video displaying the awesome power of nature as it tore down the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in 1940, Vortex Bladeless aims to revolutionise wind power. The dramatic footage shows the bridge oscillating in strong winds, becoming caught in an aeroelastic coupling and eventually collapsing into Puget Sound, Washington.
