VIAVI Solutions has released the results of its 13th annual State of the Network global study of enterprise networking and security challenges. The study shows that IT teams critically require better network visibility driven by a number of factors, including tremendous disruption from the COVID-19 pandemic, relentless technological advances, remote working reaching an all-time high and the expanding security threatscape.

Viavi Solutions has announced that it has expanded its NITRO Mobile assurance portfolio with two new solutions – GEOperformance 5G and Coverage Assurance 5G. Viavi Solutions has announced the launch of the NSC-100, the first in a new class of field test instruments called the Network & Service Companion. The NSC-100 integrates passive optical network (PON), Ethernet and WiFi test capabilities together with the automated test process known as VIAVI OneCheck.

Viavi Solutions has announced it is working with Brazil’s national telecommunications agency (Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações, ANATEL) to evaluate and test 5G-suitable spectrum ahead of auctions that will take place in 2020. The planned auction is the biggest in the history of ANATEL and will involve the 700MHz, 2.3, 2.5 and 26GHz frequency bands.

CommAgility has announced that it is supporting VIAVI Solutions in their 5G TM500 network tester. Viavi Solutions has announced that Samsung has selected the VIAVI TM500 Network Tester and TeraVM 5G Core Emulator to validate 5G network equipment performance. The UK’s Digital Secretary, Jeremy Wright, announced that £40 million is to be invested in 5G testbed and trial projects across UK industry as part of Government plans to improve mobile connectivity. The funding was announced at the 5G World Conference as part of London Tech Week. The recent launch of 5G in the UK puts the country ahead of much of Europe.

It has been announced by Viavi Solutions that the VIAVI TeraVM 5G testing solution supports standalone (SA) specifications according to the latest 3GPP standards, in addition to non-standalone (NSA) mode. With the capability to reliably emulate 5G RAN and core network elements, TeraVM enables end-to-end, wraparound testing of gNodeB base stations (gNBs) and 5G core network functions, accelerating 5G development and deployment.

Developed in partnership with tier one mobile service providers, it offers the ability to monitor and troubleshoot RF conditions around the clock for any cell site with fibre fronthaul.
