VIAVI extends O-RAN specification test suite

Testing 5G for Brazilian spectrum auction
Viavi Solutions has announced it is working with Brazil’s national telecommunications agency (Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações, ANATEL) to evaluate and test 5G-suitable spectrum ahead of auctions that will take place in 2020. The planned auction is the biggest in the history of ANATEL and will involve the 700MHz, 2.3, 2.5 and 26GHz frequency bands.

The UK’s Digital Secretary, Jeremy Wright, announced that £40 million is to be invested in 5G testbed and trial projects across UK industry as part of Government plans to improve mobile connectivity.
