Through a series of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activities, the event will demonstrate the facilities and learning opportunities at UTC Swindon to current year 5 students and their parents.

UTC Swindon and National Rail are joining forces to celebrate National UTC Day and British Science Week on 18th March. To mark the two occasions, year 10 and year 12 students at UTC Swindon will take part in hands-on challenges that test their problem solving, communication, team building and leadership skills.

UTC Swindon is giving its students the unique opportunity to build a sports car during this academic year. Tiger Sportscars have supplied the parts and materials and the UTC Swindon students are building the Wisbech-based company’s Avon model.

Stuart Holland, founder and director of Aerial Imaging Solutions, has recorded an aerial fly-through video of the UTC Swindon site. Certified by the CAA to capture the beauty of iconic buildings, Stuart is one of few pilots authorised to fly unmanned video aircraft and use thermal imaging equipment.  

With UTC Swindon’s 2015/16 student recruitment drive in full swing, applications are three times as high as those received at the end of January 2014. The Young Engineers charity has also recognised UTC Swindon as one of the top schools in the country for nurturing students.
