Ultra has secured a contract from QinetiQ to support them in replacing the entire Sonobuoy Test Facility (STF) system at the British Underwater Test & Evaluation Centre, MOD BUTEC.

HMS Portland has become the first ship to be fitted with Ultra’s next generation Hull Mounted Sonar Type 2150 as part of a wider refit to the Royal Navy’s frigates. The sonar has been designed by Ultra Electronics Command & Sonar Systems and will replace the legacy Sonar Type 2050, which has been in Royal Navy service since the 1990s.

Ultra has announced its continued support of the Electro-optical tracking system as part of Babcock’s UK Royal Navy Type 45 Destroyer ‘Gun System, Automation ‘(GSA9) in service support contract with the UK Ministry of Defence. The three year contract, with the option for a two year extension, will provide support for all aspects of the electro-optical tracking system for GSA9.
