In an attempt to help reduce air pollution in London, Uber has launched its Clean Air Plan, which has been designed to support the Mayor of London’s vision for a cleaner, healthier capital. More than 3.6m Londoners regularly use the Uber app, and half of the miles travelled on UberX in the capital are in hybrid or electric vehicles (EVs). However, Uber is not stopping there and wants to do even more.  

With the aim of increasing the development of self-driving cars, ride sharing service Uber has acquired a start-up company, Geometric Intelligence, that specialises in artificial intelligence.

Feedback from both riders and drivers is important for Uber, hence why the company insist that drivers rate the passengers, and vice versa, after each ride. The reasons for low ratings are not always obvious: a driver might be unhappy about an unruly passenger; or, alternatively, a rider might be worried that the driver was going too fast.
