Following a government funded feasibility study, the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) has been awarded a contract worth £8m to trial vehicle platooning on the UK’s roads. 

With climate change generating increasing challenges for road operators, TRL has begun a €450,000 research project to help European road operators better address the impacts of climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Following a successful competitive bid, TRL is leading a consortium of six partners to deliver the two year DeTECToR project. 

Many factors are at the centre of a series of ground-breaking research projects such as cyber security, virtual reality and machine learning, which are being delivered over the coming year by experts from TRL (the Transport Research Laboratory) – the global centre for innovation in transport and mobility.
