Two series of step-down DC/DC converters with a 500mA integrated coil and control IC have been released by Torex Semiconductor. Supporting an ambient operating temperature of 105°C, the XCL221 and XCL222 series of ‘micro' DC/DC converters are suitable for applications such as wireless devices, wearable devices that require high efficiency.
Micro DC/DC converters are 'world's smallest'
Two series of DC/DC converters, claimed to be the world’s smallest in the 1.0A continuous output current category, have been released by Torex Semiconductor. The XCL219 and XCL220 series of ‘micro' DC/DC converters feature an integrated coil and control IC.
DC/DC converters feature unique COT control
Equipped with unique COT control, the XC9259 and XC9262 series of step-down, synchronous DC/DC converters have been released by TOREX SEMICONDUCTOR. Housed in the ultra-small LGA-8B01 package, these devices incorporate the company’s HiSAT-COT fast transient response control.
Experience greater suppression of frequency fluctuations
The XC9257/XC9258 series of 1.0A step-down, synchronous DC/DC converters, equipped with unique COT control, has been released by TOREX SEMICONDUCTOR.
Voltage detector ICs cope with large voltage fluctuations
Torex Semiconductor has developed a lineup of compact, accurate voltage detectors with sense pin isolation and an external delay capacitance. The XC6132/XC6133/XC6134 series devices feature a delay function and sense pin isolated external hysteresis adjustment, as well as an internal 100V surge voltage protection function.
Push button reboot controllers target wearable devices
The XC6190 series of push button reboot controllers, which are designed for system reboot by means of a signal input from external buttons, has been released by TOREX SEMICONDUCTOR. The timer reset ICs supply a reboot signal to the system when 'L' voltage is input into both the SW1 pin and the SW2 pin for the required time (reboot delay time) using two switches (physical buttons).
1A µDC/DC converter with integrated coil minimises radiated noise
The XCL219/XCL220 module from Torex Semiconductor is designed to minimise unwanted radiated noise or EMI, making it suitable for sensitive RF applications. With its integrated coil, the XCL219/220 achieves a significant reduction in radiated noise across all frequency bands, when compared with a conventional DC/DC circuit with an external coil.
PFM-only DC/DC converter operates from just 0.5µA
In A6.280 at electronica 2014, Torex Semiconductor will present the company's first PFM-only step-down DC/DC converter that has been specifically developed for ultra-low power applications. The XC9265 series consumes just 0.5µA during operation and is therefore suitable for applications that run from batteries for long periods of time.
Buck-boost converter extends usable life of Li-ion batteries
Designed to prolong battery life in single-cell Li-ion battery applications where the output voltage is within the battery voltage range, the XC9306 converter has been released by Torex Semiconductor. When discharged, a Li-ion battery's operating voltage declines to the point that it can no longer power it's load. The synchronous buck-boost converter boosts the output voltage of the battery, extending it’s usable life.
85mΩ power switch features adjustable current limit
Enabling designers to set the current limit to a desired value by using an external resistor, the XC8108/9 series from Torex Semiconductor provides an adjustable current limit feature. The device incorporates an 85mΩ P-channel MOSFET power switch for low ON resistance and is optimised for USB, power line and Hot plug applications.
Offline LED driver naturally reduces EMI
Operating over an input range of 85-270V AC, the XC9401C is a highly efficient, step-down constant current controller for offline LED driver applications. Introduced by Torex Semiconductor, the driver employs a constant off-time control method which naturally reduces EMI and provides a stable power supply for LED lighting.
Buck DC/DC converter for demanding industrial applications
Torex Semiconductor has announced the XC9270/71 series step-down (buck) DC/DC converter with integrated 0.3Ω N-channel driver transistor that utilises a bootstrap configuration. Featuring an operating input voltage range of 7.0-30V, the devices withstand surge voltages of 46V for up to 400ms for more demanding Industrial applications.
Schottky barrier diodes for low voltage applications
Suitable for use with DC/DC converters and in low voltage applications, particularly in hand-held and portable equipment, the XBS104P11R-G, XBS304F11R-G and XBS306P11R-G Schottky barrier diodes have been announced by Torex Semiconductor. Schottky barrier diodes offer much lower forward voltage drop than standard switching diodes which means that they can offer high current capabilities, ultra fast switching and low power dissipation.
Switch incorporates 85mΩ Pch MOSFET
A power switch optimised for USB 2.0 and 3.0 applications, as well as power line distribution and Hot plug applications, has been launched by Torex. The XC8107 device incorporates 85mΩ Pch MOSFET power switch for low ON resistance.
Voltage detector offers adjustable watchdog timer
With a built in adjustable watchdog timer, Torex Semiconductor's XC6130/31 voltage detector is suited for high reliability applications where the system needs to be able to recover from code errors without human intervention. The reset timeout and the watchdog timeout period can be adjusted using an external capacitor while a separate manual reset input on the XC6130 allows a simple push button interface.
DC/DC converter for battery powered applications
Featuring an integrated coil to simplify board layout and minimise any unwanted radiated noise, the XCL101 series step-up micro DC/DC converter has been announced by Torex Semiconductor. Able to start operation from input voltages as low as 0.9V, the XCL101 is suitable for use with single alkaline or nickel metal hydride cells.
