FRAM-based MCUs optimise board space and save power

Expanding the availability of tiny package sizes to several additional families of ultra-low power MSP430 microcontrollers, Texas Instruments enables developers to save valuable board space. The ultra-low power FRAM-based MSP430FR5738 and Flash-based MSP430F51x2 MCUs are now available in wafer-level chip scale packages (WLCSP) as small as 2.0x2.2x0.3mm.

MCU maths libraries help maintain ultra-low power consumption

Leveraging intelligent peripherals and optimised software to ease the burden of complex maths instructions, Texas Instruments has announced an expanded ecosystem of free and easy-to-use maths libraries for its MSP430 MCUs. Both MSPMATHLIB and IQmathLib software libraries are suitable for applications where performance and power are critical, such as orientation tracking.

Seven times range for low-power 2.4GHz wireless networks

When paired with the company’s 2.4GHz low power RF solutions for ZigBee, 802.15.4, 6LoWPAN and Bluetooth low energy networks, the SimpleLink CC2592 range extender from TI provides up to a seven times improvement in range. The first launched pairing is the CC2592 with the SimpleLink ZigBee CC2538 wireless MCU to speed time to market of ZigBee-enabled equipment.

12A synchronous buck regulator with PMBus interface

Featuring a tiny PowerStack QFN package and integrated NexFET MOSFETs, the SWIFT TPS53915 converter drives ASICs in space-constrained and power-dense applications in including wired and wireless communications, enterprise/cloud computing and storage systems. TI claim that this is the industry’s smallest 12A, synchronous DC/DC buck converter with PMBus interface.

TI unveil industry's most efficient flyback PMICs

Combining high density with high efficiency, the UCC28910 700V flyback switcher and the UCC28630 high-power, Green-Mode controller have been announced by Texas Instruments. The company have claimed that the flyback power solutions achieve the highest energy efficiency and lowest standby power consumption for 5-100W AC/DC power supplies.

PCIe clock buffers deliver 70% lower additive jitter

Compared to competitive devices, the LMK00334 and LMK00338 clock fanout buffers from Texas Instruments deliver 70% lower additive jitter and significantly higher supply noise rejection. The pair of 4-output and 8-output high-speed current steering logic (HCSL) devices are suitable for high-speed communications, networking and data centre systems, including servers, switches and routers.

Industry’s fastest 12-bit ADC clocks in at 4GS/s

Texas Instruments introduce what they claim is the industry’s fastest 12-bit ADC. Clocking in at 4GS/s (gigasamples per second), the RF-sampling ADC12J4000 supports the JEDEC JESD204B serial interface standard for data converters up to 8Gb/s. It is suitable for use in test and measurement, wireless and defence applications, such as spectrum analysers, munitions, digital pre-distortion feedback and radar.

LVDS receiver enables 30% further video transmission

Reducing electromagnetic interference (EMI) and power consumption, the SN65LVDS822 FlatLink LVDS receiver has been introduced by Texas Instruments. The company has claimed that this is the industry’s first LVDS receiver IC to support a 4MHz pixel clock in printers, copiers, digital cameras, fuel pump displays and appliances with small LCD panels.
