Thyristor module operates up to 690VAC
A thyristor module with an expanded operating voltage range up to 690VAC has been introduced by TDK. Designed for PFC, the EPCOS TSM-LC-N690 performs two-phase switching of the capacitors, removing the need for a neutral conductor. Depending on the operating voltage, the module is designed for a reactive power of 40 to 75KVAR and can switch currents of up to 60A.
Transponder coils are 'world's smallest'
Compact EPCOS SMT transponder coils have been released by TDK. Measuring just 4.5x3.2x3.2mm, the TC1812 has an inductance of 2.38mH and is designed for operation in the Z-axis. The TC1210 coil is available with an inductance value of 1.08mH or 1.34mH, depending on type, and is suitable for operation in either the X- or Y-axis. According to the company, the TC1210 is the world’s smallest transponder coil, measuring just 3.2x2.5x2.2mm.
TDK discontinues Piccadilly Circus sign
TDK displays a special video presentation advertisement that takes a retrospective look at the 25-year history of the TDK neon sign in Piccadilly Circus, London. The content will run until 24th of March, 2015.
High-performance EMC filters have a compact design
TDK has announced a series of very compact three-line EMC filters for frequency converters. These high-performance filters are suitable for a rated voltage of 530VAC in 50/60Hz grids. The B84243A8x series currently comprises seven different types that are designed for currents of between 3 and 60A - based on a rated temperature of 50°C.
Ring-shaped power capacitors suit EV applications
Suitable for use as a DC link capacitor in EV and HEV applications, TDK has announced a power capacitor with an innovative ring configuration, the RingCap. The device can be integrated into a clutch bell housing or wheel hub motors and its dimensions can be adapted according to the specific requirements of the customer: the outer diameter may be up to 315mm, while its width is no more than 50mm.
EV heating element self-regulates, ensuring stability
In contrast to traditional heating elements for conventional 12V onboard power supplies, TDK's recently-released EPCOS PTC heating elements are designed for the considerably higher voltages found in EV batteries. The rated voltages of these heating elements range from 200 to 500V, producing surface temperatures of up to 250°C. Depending on design, these heating elements are suitable for safe operation at up to 1000V.
Power supplies can be paralleled for larger systems
Suitable for deposition processes, ROVs, ATE systems and general laboratory and industrial use, 600W programmable DC power supplies have been released by TDK. The devices, which expand the company’s Z+ series, are offered with output voltages of up to 160, 320 or 650VDC.
Data book supports the selection of electrolytic capacitors
A fully revised data book on EPCOS aluminium electrolytic capacitors with crew terminal, snap-in, axial and single-ended connections, has been released by TDK. The B43704/B43724 and B43705/B43725 series of screw-terminal capacitors, which feature a significantly improved current capability, are included within the book.
Halogen-free MLCCs support the design of green applications
Two series of leaded MLCCs, which are halogen-free according to IEC 61249-2-21, have been released by TDK. The FG series consists of commercial-grade devices, while the FA series consists of automotive-grade devices. To support the design of environmentally friendly applications, the MLCCs do not use halogen as a flame retardant in the external resin coating.
Multilayer low pass filter achieves 50% size reduction
TDK has released a multilayer low-pass filter for LTE and other next-gen high-speed wireless communication systems. Thanks to thinner ceramic layers, finer conductor lines and an optimised internal electrode design, the DEA071910LT-4003B1 achieves a miniaturised footprint of 0.65x0.5mm and a slimmer insertion height of just 0.3mm (form factor 06505).
Heat-sink features both surface mount & leaded components
The UK Intellectual Property Office has approved TDK-Lambda UK’s power supply heatsink arrangement patent application. To dissipate heat, power supply designers utilise a variety of components, including surface mount and leaded parts. These components, however, require different cooling arrangements.
UK Intellectual Property Office approves PFC controller
The UK Intellectual Property Office has approved TDK-Lambda UK’s power supply PFC controller patent application. The requirement for industrial power supplies to limit harmonic currents has existed for many years, and in Europe the standard is defined by EN 61000-3-2.
Power inductors offer rated inductance values of 1.0-470μH
Designed for use in automotive electronics, the CLF6045NI-D series of wirewound SMD power inductors has been released by TDK. Operating across a temperature range of 55 to +150 °C, the components offer rated inductance values of 1.0-470μH (E6 series). The power inductors, which measure 6.3x6.0x 4.5mm, are available for rated currents of 0.28- 6.7A and offer DC resistance values ranging from 1.1mΩ to 1.30Ω.
800W power supply has output voltages of 160, 320 or 650VDC
