Voice control that can make wearable technology simpler and more battery-friendly just became easier to add with software-based innovations from STMicroelectronics. With the BlueVoice software, designers get all the drivers and libraries they need to implement voice transmission over a BLE connection in systems built around ST’s STM32 MCUs, BlueNRG ultra-low-power network processors, and digital MEMS microphones.

STMicroelectronics has revealed that its STiH237 Cardiff satellite SoC is powering the Satellite HD Zapper STB from Skyworth Digital. Cardiff is ST's entry-level satellite STB platform that delivers superior video decoding and the highest reliability under the worst field conditions, enabling superior display and image quality and broadcast demodulation performance.

The STiD135 enables significantly more efficient bandwidth usage and increased throughput in satellite internet provisioning when deployed with transponders aimed at using the higher frequency bands to send data via Ka-band communication satellites. 

Shanghai Stollmann Communication Technology has selected STMicroelectronics’ NFC transceiver for use within its NFC/RFID UART module. The NFCMod+S68 combines a small form factor with robust performance and optimised power consumption, allowing manufacturers to develop RF reader systems for paired data exchange, authentication and identification applications in healthcare, industrial, home appliances and consumer electronics.

Utilising an in-house 40nm embedded Flash process, ST Microelectronics has added several devices to its multi-core MCU family, aimed at making cars safer. The automotive MCUs combine ISO 26262 ASIL-D compliance, encryption for security and increased memory size for the storage of vital programmes and data, strengthening ST’s line of fault-tolerant MCUs for demanding in-car applications.

STMicroelectronics has introduced MCU chips designed to bring graphics enabling intuitive smartphone-like UIs in the world of wearables, smart appliances and other IoT applications. The STM32F469/479 MCU line delivers this performance through ST’s Chrom-ART Accelerator and the MIPI-DSI technology widely deployed in smartphones and tablets, without higher cost or shorter battery-lifetime penalties.

Serial EEPROMs, which operate at temperatures of up to 105°C, have been introduced by STMicroelectronics. The EEPROMs are claimed to deliver the industry’s most complete selection of densities, bus interfaces and packages, giving designers extra flexibility to upgrade data and parameter storage without making PCB design changes.

  At CCBN 2015, which takes place from 26th to 28th March in Beijing, China, STMicroelectronics will demonstrate its DOCSIS 3.0 solutions. 

STMicroelectronics has announced that its Palma HD cable chipsets and its Cannes/Monaco family of UltraHD Devices have been optimised for iPanel's middleware range. The solutions will allow Chinese cable operators to broadcast high-quality HD and UltraHD content and deliver a range of value-added services, including interactive TV shopping, education services, and banner advertisements.

To address the Chinese Ultra HDp60 market, STMicroelectronics has released the STiH314/318 and STiH414/418 quad-core SoC ICs. The devices extend the company’s Cannes and Monaco families.
