Sensor brings multi-object detection to mobile applications
STMicroelectronics has released its third-generation laser-ranging sensor based on its industry-leading FlightSense technology. The VL53L1 sensor benefits from new patented silicon- and module-level architectures, adding for the first time, optical lenses to the module. This combination boosts core performance while ¬introducing many new features including multi-target detection, cover-glass crosstalk immunity at long distance, and programmab...
Boards support LPWAN evaluation for IoT connectivity
Two new ready-to-use prototype boards available from STMicroelectronics slash the cost for developers to start evaluating LoRaWAN and other LPWAN technologies including WM-Bus and 6LoWPAN. The boards are based on the smallest and lowest-power LoRaWAN modules that exist on the market today, with a footprint not larger than 13x12mm and power consumption in the range of 1.2µA in standby mode.
Accelerometer delivers resolution and low power
Taking context sensing in IoT and wearable devices to the next level, STMicroelectronics’ LIS2DW12 3-axis accelerometer delivers superior accuracy, flexibility, and energy savings by supporting multiple low-power and low-noise settings in a 2mm x 2mm x 0.7mm package.
Chopper Op amps feature rail-to-rail input and output
The TSZ182 dual precision op amp from STMicroelectronics combines low and extremely temperature-stable input-offset voltage with the added advantages of a 3MHz gain-bandwidth, rail-to-rail inputs and outputs, and ultra-small 2mm x 2mm DFN8 or Mini-SO8 package options.
Electric vehicle charging interface welcomes partnership
The Charging Interface Initiative e. V. (CharIN), and STMicroelectronics, have announced that ST has become a member of the initiative.
Next-gen IPMs target applications up to 100W
STMicroelectronics has extended its SLLIMM nano series of Intelligent Power Modules (IPMs) for motor drives with more package options that help minimise overall size and complexity, extra integrated features, and greater efficiency leveraging the latest-generation 500V MOSFETs.
Data centres changing power-conversion tactics to save energy
Internet applications and services are executed in large data centres comprising hundreds to thousands of individual servers. These data centres represent a new class of large-scale machines driven by complex and rapidly evolving workloads. Authors: Alessandro Zafarana, Max Picca, Osvaldo Zambetti, Pierluigi Gardella, STMicroelectronics.
Customer interactions streamlined through IoT solution
myDevices, Senet, and STMicroelectronics have announced that they have collaborated to showcase demonstrations of the first real-time, multi-target location tracking using the LoRaWAN low-power, wide-area network (LPWAN) protocol along the Las Vegas Strip during CES 2017.
Partners create turnkey solution for wearable devices
Mobile payments may go mainstream on wearable devices like smartwatches by taking advantage of a ready-to-use payment solution containing technology from STMicroelectronics. ST, G&D, and FitPay have used ST's security chip to jointly create the first secure hardware and software solution that is pre-approved for use by device manufacturers with the aim to develop integrated tokenised payments from Mastercard or Visa.
Single-chip processors support future connected driving services
Performance and security has been boosted in STMicroelectronics' latest Telemaco processors tailored to support richer connected-driving services. Telematics systems that monitor on-board sensors and exchange information with the Cloud are becoming increasingly sophisticated.
Take your fitness tracking further with smart motion sensors
