Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories has announced its latest addition to the SEL wired communications product line. Designed to cut the rack-mount space in half, the ICON cube chassis offers the same functionality as the full-sized, 19" ICON chassis, but with a smaller footprint. Its reduced size allows wide-area communications to be brought to locations that are space-constrained, such as pad mounts, repeater sites and oil/gas platforms.

Schweitzer has added synchrophasors to its SEL-735 Power Quality and Revenue Meter, enabling users to collect real-time measurements of electrical quantities from every SEL-735 Meter across their system. They can use synchrophasor data to perform wide-area control, validate system models, determine stability margins, maximise stable system loading, detect islanding, record system-wide disturbances and visualise dynamic system responses.
