Coupler system enables efficient DC power distribution in data centres
With the GP21 plug connector and the GS21 socket-outlet, SCHURTER has launched the UL approved IEC TS 62735-1 standardised DC coupler system designed to enable efficient DC power distribution in data centre power distribution strips and UPS. With a complete DC power supply architecture, from source to load, the cost intensive and failure-prone transformations and conversions, including their components, are completely eliminated. Operat...
The voltage rises in vehicles
The idea of a higher vehicle electrical system voltage in automobiles is not new. As early as the 1990s, a 42V consortium was set up. However, due to a lack of standards, this approach was not successful. But now everything is to change.
The industrialisation of satellites
The use of space by satellites has so far focused on scientific, communicative and military aspects. This will change massively in the future. Whole swarms of small satellites are to orbit the globe and supply mankind with internet from orbit.
Power fuses successfully recertified for space applications
SCHURTER and the European Space Agency (ESA) have a long and intensive cooperation in research and development. SCHURTER has been the exclusive supplier of fuses for a decade. The biennial recertification also took place in 2018 without any complaints.
Metal line switches with ring illumination
The MSM Metal Line series with ring lighting has been revised and fine-tuned by SCHURTER. The optimised switches of the MSM family still have the same diameter of 19, 22 and 30mm. The high-quality housing made of either robust stainless steel or aluminium also remained untouched.
An insatiable hunger for power
Every motorist wants maximum comfort and maximum safety. So more and more electronics are being packed into the vehicle for this purpose. This leads to a constantly increasing power density with not insignificant thermal hazard potential.
Compact power entry module features additional ground choke
SCHURTER has extended its power entry module series DD12 with new flange variants for screw and snap mounting. New versions are also available with additional ground choke for suppressing high frequency interference on the ground conductor. The DD12 with fuse holder, switch and filter offers remarkable functionality in a very compact housing.
Switching power supply suited for indoor lighting applications
SCHURTER accessorises its illuminated Metal Line switches with the PSUP 24VDC universal switching power supply. The Class II power supply supports SCHURTER’s full range of point and ring illuminated Metal Line switches rated for 24VDC supply voltage. The PSUP is also suited for a wide variety of indoor lighting applications such as LED.
Power entry module equipped with double-stage filter
Modern electronic equipment is designed to deliver high performance in a compact size. Often this causes problems affecting the equipment itself or other nearby devices due to the inherent electro-magnetic interferences being generated in and between the different systems. To meet these EMC challenges, high performance power entry modules must also keep pace, and such is the case with the new DD14 series from SCHURTER.
Can these IEC connectors take the heat?
Connectors that are approved in accordance with IEC 60320 are suitable for use at ambient temperatures of up to 40°C. The average temperature over a period of 24 hours should not exceed 35°C with a lower limit of -5°C for the ambient air temperature. But can it go higher?
Providing primary protection against overvoltage events
Overvoltages take place during events such as switching operations, electrostatic discharges as well as lightning discharges. Be they direct or indirect, they are introduced by galvanic, inductive or capacitive means to electrical lines, with the potential to create devastating effects.
SCHURTER celebrates being IATF 16469 Certified
The 10th August was a big day for Schurter, as the company successfully passed the certification audits according to the new IATF 16949:2016 automotive standard. This new standard of the IATF (International Automotive Task Force) demands the highest system and process quality standards of a company.
2.5 A appliance inlet is inexpensive
The appliance inlet series of the type 2570 by SCHURTER provides various mounting variants and terminal options. Because of its cost effective design and the wide range of approval certificates for Europe, America and Asia, the C8 inlet is best suited for both industrial and consumer applications. The appliance connector for snap-in mounting is available with solder-, quick connect- or PCB-terminals.
SMD solid-state fuse suitable for harsh applications
An extremely robust SMD fuse has been introduced by SCHURTER. The new High Current Fuse, HCF, has been designed using solid-state/thin-film technology. The HCF is especially suited for use in particularly harsh applications, where the reliable interrupt of high currents is critical. SCHURTER's experience, acquired from the development of solid-state fuses for the space industry, and the cooperation with ESA, have led to the development of the HCF...
Fuses provide overcurrent protection
Transmitting both power and data over a single cable is a simple idea – a plug-and-play solution. However as the amount of current increases, so does the danger of fire, therefore it is essential to protect electronics from overcurrents and SCHURTER offers fuses to provide this protection. Data networks based on the Ethernet standard are in widespread use around the world and a few examples of devices tied into these networks include s...
Switches offered with 7 luminescent multicolor options
SCHURTER expands its MSM Metal Line range with a pushbutton switch capable of multiple illumination possibilities. The illumination provides a homogeneous quality in a ring illuminated style, or complete actuator area illumination. Status indication is possible in 7 different colors in a single product.
AEC-Q200 fuses offer reliable EV battery protection
Fossil fuels are limited in availability. And when they are burned, harmful exhaust gases are generated. The fact that the future belongs to the electric vehicle is now out of question. Schurter comes into play, fusing electronics and battery cells. Automobiles are becoming stronger, safer, more comfortable, and therefore also heavier. In order to accelerate an electric vehicle adequately, a lot of energy is needed. This is achieve...
400VDC power plug suits data centre systems up to 2.6kW
Converting, transforming, converting, transforming – vast amounts of unused electricity simply disappear in data centres. The idea of switching the power supply to direct current and bypassing a large proportion of these losses results in a paradigm shift. According to an independent British report from 2016, data centres consume approximately 3% of the world's electricity and account for 2% of total greenhouse gas emissions.
Outdoor switches are tough but elegant
Switches for harsh outdoor applications are exposed to the most extreme influences: Vandalism, weather, fluctuations in temperature, fine dust and more. With Metal Line, SCHURTER proves that robustness, functionality and absolute reliability are entirely compatible with aesthetics and elegance.
IEC outlets now available with integrated light pipes
Continual advancements in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) strive to keep pace with the continually expanding human need for information. New data centres continually appear in the most unconventional of places to support this growing demand. These data centres are under constant pressure to improve upon efficiency and reliability under growing regulatory requirements to reduce energy use and cost. Meanwhile, the demand for reliabl...
