EuMW 2023: Microelectronics packages lower cost of space missions
In the fast-paced commercial aerospace market, companies need materials that are both lightweight and durable enough to withstand hostile, demanding environments.
Non-magnetic, lightweight hermetic housings are bespoke
Bespoke hermetic housings cater for a diverse range of customer requirements, says Schott. The company provides customised hermetic microelectronic housings (MCM) to protect sensitive electronics, in a variety of materials. Various non-magnetic housings use light metals and alloys, such as titanium, aluminum and Monel, which can be made to match applications in microwave housings for a variety of sectors such as radar systems and aerospace applic...
Ultra-thin glass for the smartphone of the future
Glass thinner than a human hair is now strong and flexible enough to be used in a wide variety of high-tech applications. The technology group SCHOTT is one of the few companies in the world that develops and manufactures ultra-thin glass for cutting-edge features in smartphones of the future, including cover glasses, substrates for flexible OLED displays and wearables, camera systems, novel micro batteries, processors and fingerprint and bio-sen...
Carrier wafers made from borosilicate glass enable UV de-bonding
SCHOTT enables faster wafer production in the semiconductor industry with the use of its BOROFLOAT borosilicate glass. Thanks to its well-adapted thermal expansion behaviour, its excellent flatness and process robustness, it is widely recognised as a standard material for MEMS processes such as anodic bonding.
Salt spray resistance for hermetic glass-to-metal sealed housings
SCHOTT has now developed a special coating through which the industry’s salt spray requirements for hybrid housings can be exceeded. The coating protects glass-to-metal seals against corrosion, even after 24 hour salt spray tests. This improves the reliability of hermetic packages, especially for applications in extremely harsh environments, such as aerospace projects.
TO suits thermoelectrically cooled 10Gb/s laser diodes
SCHOTT has expanded its design portfolio of TO packages for the 10Gb/s range to suit high-frequency, actively cooled applications. SCHOTT's latest TEC TO package enables the development of high-speed data transfer in the telecomms and datacomms markets and suits 10Gb/s laser diodes that require a ThermoElectric Cooler (TEC), enabling its application in middle to long distances.
SCHOTT to offer its multifunctional DARO coating for touch displays on CONTURAN glass
SCHOTT has expanded its coating expertise in the area of specialty glass and introduced the first permanently anti-reflective and oleophobic (DARO) coating to the market for use on SCHOTT’s proven glass CONTURAN. This is the first coating that allows for anti-reflective cover glasses for professional touch displays that are protected against fingerprints and other soiling. The multifunctional DARO coating is particularly well suited for use...
SCHOTT HermeS Glass Wafers with Through Glass Vias for MEMS technology
SCHOTT is offering its HermeS wafers with hermetically sealed solid “Through Glass Vias” (TGV). HermeS glass substrates enable fully gastight and therefore long-term robust enclosures for MEMS devices. The fine pitched vias allow the reliable conduction of electrical signals and power into and out of the MEMS device. Since HermeS glass can be placed directly under the silicon MEMS, it makes miniaturized, fully hermetic 3D Wafer Level ...
Specialty glass unites people with technology
SCHOTT offers a wide variety of specialty glass products for use in touch displays. From cover glasses for large format professional displays in public places to protective glasses for smartphones, tablets and Ultrabooks and even control panels and displays in automobiles, the company offers many different solutions. The second main focus will be on wafers made of ultra-thin glass for applications in semiconductor technology, but also for applica...
SCHOTT PERFORM MONO 260 gets the ball rolling on the product offensive at SCHOTT Solar
It'll be available as of May: the new high-performance module SCHOTT PERFORM MONO from SCHOTT Solar. The high-quality German manufacturer will be launching its latest development in two performance classes of up to 260 W peak to start with. And they are really worth taking a closer look at in terms of both their performance and design: with a high module efficiency rate of 15.9 percent, owners of private homes that have small roof surfaces will f...
