Saft gears up for Li-ion battery production in the Americas

Primary lithium cells gain Asian contract

Saft has won contracts to supply around 5m of its Eternacell branded primary lithium cells to leading OEMs for electricity metering projects in China, India and Taiwan. Lithium battery contract to supply the French army

Saft Deliver Reliable Power To Wind Turbine LED Emergency Lighting Units

Saft have today announced delivery of 4,000 nickel-metal hydride battery packs to Spain’s IED Green Power. The specialist electronics manufacturer for the wind energy sector has selected Saft’s rechargeable AA-sized VHT batteries to power its new generation LVD waterproof LED emergency lighting units for installation in wind generators, where the harsh conditions prevent the reliable operation of traditional lighting systems.

Saft takes control of Nersac lithium-ion battery factory

Saft announces that it has bought from Johnson Controls Inc the Nersac Li-ion battery facility near Angoulême in France. This transaction took place on 1st January 2013, in line with the agreement concluded with Johnson Controls on 30th September 2011 relating to the sale of Saft’s shares in the Johnson Controls-Saft joint venture, for a total consideration of $145m.
