The VENTURI Formula E team in the FIA Formula E 2017-2018 (season four) was provided with full SiC power modules from ROHM. This module will support further improvements in the car’s performance under racing conditions. ROHM became VENTURI’s official technology partner in season 3, and provides what the company claims to be the world’s most advanced SiC power devices used in the inverter, which is the core of the ...
Shunt resistors reduce surface temperature rise by 45%
Suitable for current detection in high-power applications in the automotive, industrial and large-scale consumer electronics sectors, ROHM has announced the development and mass production of high-power low-ohmic shunt resistors of the GMR100 series. The new shunt resistors are characterised by a high rated power of 3W and a resistance range from 5-220mΩ. Their resistance tolerance is specified with F (±1%). The temperature coefficie...
Step down power supply masters common automotive challenges
A new DC/DC converter from ROHM Semiconductor has been announced named BD9V100MUF-C. It features a built-in MOSFET that can generate output voltages of just 3.3 or 5V (minimum 2.5V) from input voltages up to 60V at a switching frequency of 2MHz.
Noise tolerant op-amps used in electric vehicle core systems
With its BA8290xYxx-C series, ROHM is offering automotive-grade op-amps featuring superior noise immunity. The output voltage fluctuations are suppressed in all frequency bands to less than ±1%, compared to ±3.5% to ±10% with conventional products. This allows, for example, sensor signals to be amplified without the need for noise countermeasures, which significantly reduces design load and contributes to greater reliability.
