Sensor solutions for connected mobility and Industry 4.0 at CES 2017
Bosch Connected Devices and Solutions showcases three innovative sensor-based solutions at the 2017 International CES in Las Vegas, USA. The devices help improve comfort, convenience and accountability, and new extension boards simplify the development of Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
memsstar completes installation of two MEMS etch systems
memsstar announced that it has installed two ORBIS ALPHA systems in Bosch’s German research and development facility in Renningen. The systems will be used in Bosch’s development efforts for the next generation of MEMS devices. Introduced in 2014, ORBIS systems deliver the industry’s most advanced single-wafer process capability for advanced MEMS manufacturing.
Driving comfort improved with pressure sensors
At this year's electronica in Munich, Germany, Bosch launches the SMP14x, a pressure sensor for hydraulic pressure measurement in automatic transmissions. With a response time of less than 1 millisecond, the sensor measures pressure to operate the clutch with high precision.
7% lower fuel consumption with active gas pedal
The driver’s foot is responsible for one-quarter of fuel consumption. Up to now, the only thing that could be done about this rule of thumb was to drive gently and take eco-driving courses. Now, however, Bosch has developed a technical aid in the shape of the active gas pedal: its gentle vibration tells drivers when they have crossed the line from light touch to lead foot.
Smart sensors for home, office, vehicle & IoT applications
At the 2016 International CES in Las Vegas, Bosch Connected Devices and Solutions has launched three innovative sensor-based products. The devices provide smart solutions for homes, offices and vehicles, to help improve comfort, convenience and safety, as well as helping developers to quickly create new IoT solutions.
Lives could be saved with motorcycle stability control
Supporting riders when braking hard in bends, the Bosch MSC motorcycle stability control could prove to defuse thousands of critical situations and significantly bring down the number of fatalities in bends.
Save fuel by stopping the engine before the vehicle
Helping to combat the ever rising cost of fuel, Bosch has developed a new start-stop coasting function which stops the engine when the vehicle is in motion to save fuel. The new system stops the engine whenever the vehicle can maintain its speed simply by rolling (i.e. on a slope). As soon as the driver touches the accelerator or brake pedal, the engine starts up again. Bosch's new start-stop coasting function enables travel in zero-emission, noi...
Bosch & PSA Peugeot Citroën optimise vehicle range and safety
Along with other partners, Bosch and PSA Peugeot Citroën are cooperating on the Optimal Energy Consumption and Recovery research programme. Available for all types of motors (gasoline, diesel, hybrid and electric), two new technologies developed for the OpEneR project are designed to improve the range of future hybrid and electric vehicles and optimise driver safety and comfort.
100 Years Of Electricity In The Car
One hundred years ago, Bosch brought electricity into the car: a generator launched in 1913 powered the “Bosch-Licht,” the world’s first automotive lighting system. In the years that followed, the generator increasingly became the automobile’s power station. Today, it supplies power to things such as the car radio, power windows, air-conditioning system, and safety systems such as ESP(R). Now, in the Bosch boost recuperati...
Bosch Presents Solutions For Mobility Of The Future
Bosch will be playing an active role in this year’s celebrations in Stuttgart to mark the day of German Unity. On October 2 and 3, the supplier of technology and services will be presenting products and services relating to the mobility of the future. The focal point of the exhibition, on show in Stuttgart’s “Schlossgarten” park, is electromobility. There, Bosch will present products and solutions for electrically powered ...
Continuously Variable Transmissions On The Rise Worldwide
Driving up a winding mountain road can be a tiresome task. None of the gears seems to be right. Sometimes they are too high, sometimes too low. With continuously variable transmission, it's a different story. As its name suggests, this automatic transmission works without any fixed shifting point. The result is a smooth drive at constant traction and engine speed.
Funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research
As part of a new joint project, two companies and two academic institutes have got together with a single goal in mind: to improve battery performance in electric vehicles. The project partners hope that smart battery management will give a significant boost to the performance, safety, and service life of electric and hybrid vehicles. An innovative method that uses the path traveled by the electricity in the battery to transmit data provides the ...
Bosch Opens New Plant In China
Bosch opened a new plant in Chengdu, western China. In the future, the plant will manufacture safety systems such as the ABS antilock braking system and the ESP(R) electronic stability program for local customers. The new site covers a total of some 127,000 square meters. Bosch, a supplier of technology and services, will be investing roughly 100 million euros in the location in the years ahead. Of this amount, 35 million euros have already been ...
Bosch Technology Powers 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel
Bosch announced today that its clean diesel technology is featured on the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel. Bosch provides the fuel injection system, ceramic glow plugs, engine control module, exhaust gas treatment technology and sensors for the vehicle.
Technology for the mobility of the future
In light of the global trend toward urbanization, our mobility needs are increasing rapidly. At the same time, standards for clean air, noise control, and climate protection are becoming stricter. At the UN conference on implementing Rio+20 decisions – held in Berlin from June 19 to 21 – internationally recognized experts are meeting to discuss the resource-conserving transportation of the future. Bosch is taking part, with both detailed pres...
Bosch opens new proving ground in China
On June 21, Bosch opened a new proving ground in Donghai, Jiangsu province. This test facility will allow year-round testing of active safety systems such as the ABS antilock braking system, the ESP® electronic stability program, and powerful driver assistance systems for passenger cars, motorcycles, and trucks with a total weight of up to 45 metric tons. Nonetheless, a raft of measures introduced over the past few years have succeeded in significantly reducing the number of road d...
Hydraulic hybrid is “Engine of the Year”
Bosch has won the international Engine of the Year award for its hydraulic hybrid. This powertrain complements a classic internal-combustion engine with hydraulic elements and a pressure accumulator filled with nitrogen. Frank Linkenheil, one of the two project leaders at Bosch, says: “Thanks to the hydraulic hybrid, alternative powertrains are one alternative richer. We are very proud to be the first supplier to win this award.” The award is...
