185mm busbar system withstands 50kA for a second
Rittal has launched the Ri4Power modular busbar system with a 185mm busbar centre distance. Ri4Power is suitable for configuring compact, secure power distribution within Ri4Power switchgear systems or Rittal’s renowned TS 8 enclosure range. Offering current ratings of up to 1600A and a short time withstand rating of 50kA for one second, the Ri4Power system meets the current switchgear standard IEC 61439-1.
Rapid assembly for secure distribution
Four PDU systems for professional power distribution in IT racks, which will halve the time a system takes to assemble compared to screw in PDUs, have been introduced by Rittal. The systems employ snap-in technology so not only is it very quick and easy to assemble, there is also no need for tools. Up to four PDUs can be mounted in the zero-U-space, so no height units for servers are wasted.
IT infrastructure in the context of Industry 4.0
Manufacturing can become faster and much more flexible with consistent, IT-assisted value chains. A recently-published whitepaper from Rittal shows the key role IT plays in what is termed Industry 4.0 and explains how companies can establish the infrastructure that is required to bring the concept to fruition.
Reduce downtime, equipment failure & energy use
Running manufacturing automation systems at high temperatures will have a major negative impact on the system’s performance and reduce its service life according to Rittal. By not keeping drives at or close to optimum operating temperature, manufacturers risk huge consequential costs when the production line grinds to a halt as a result of system failure.
Control up to four EC fan-&-filter units
An EC speed control, designed for EC fan-and-filter units, has been introduced by Rittal. The control is compatible with larger models in the company’s TopTherm EC fan-and-filter unit range.
Is IT taking you backwards into the future?
The IT world is changing fast, and staying abreast of recent developments as well as issues such as security and energy consumption is a constant concern for IT executives. The full or partial failure of an IT system would constitute an enormous cost to a business but assessing levels of risk and pre-empting any threat is a challenging task, not least because updating legacy systems can be very expensive.
Easily review data centre performance & map trends
To allow a more user-friendly experience along with better access to data storage and greater data storage capacity, Rittal has released the CMC III Computer Multi Control (CMC) system. This makes reviewing data centre performance over time and mapping trends far easier.
Automation opportunities for panel builders
According to Rittal, there are many panel builders that are not taking advantage of the opportunities automation presents. Rittal’s acquisition of Kiesling in 2013 was a milestone in the company’s ability to support its customers.
Precise environment requirements for a G59 installation
Rittal annouce that their range of products can provide the precise environment requirements for a G59 installation. As with any electrical installation, the environment for a G59 alternative power connection is critical to protect the sensitive electrical components either indoors or outdoors, regardless of temperature, and irrespective of whether the situation is dusty or clean; all these factors can have a major impact on the reliability and l...
Energy-efficient enclosure cooling in dusty environments
Rittal has recently claimed that air-to-air heat exchangers are highly effective at lowering the temperature inside enclosures in cool environments. They are cost-effective and energy efficient while also being well suited to dirty or dusty settings, unlike traditional fan-and-filter units.
Rittal updates thermal calculation software
Rittal’s Therm 6.3 software simplifies the often time-consuming and complicated calculation of enclosure cooling and heating requirements. Simply input the dimensions and position of your panel, the heat loss of the equipment installed, the ambient temperature, your preferred internal temperature and details of the available power supply. Then select a cooling or heating solution specific to your project requirements.
Fan-and-filter units claimed to be up to 30% more efficient
Fan-and-filter units, which feature electronically commutated motors for energy efficiency, have been released by Rittal. According to the company, these units are more efficient in enclosure climate control than standard AC fan-and-filter units.
AC/DC-optimised busbar system offers safety & reliability
Efficient drive systems, idle power loss reductions and the renewable energy sector all require safe, reliable DC solutions which, whilst they cannot replace AC applications across the board, are growing in importance. Addressing this need, Rittal has announced that it is to offer an approved standalone busbar system with standard components, optimised for both AC and DC applications.
IT rack portfolio offers more than 100 configurations
To provide customers with more options and greater flexibility for their IT enclosures, Rittal has expanded its portfolio of modular TS IT racks. The portfolio, which now offers more than 100 configurations, is comprised of a wide range of dimensions that can be combined with a number of interior components.
Software suite offers ACB connection CAD drawings
For switchgear with ratings above 1600A, Air Circuit Breakers (ACB) and copper connections have to be tested for short circuit and the effects of heat rise. Rittal’s latest RPE software, version 6.2, can supply the actual current carry capacity of all leading air circuit breaker manufacturers as well as the CAD drawings of the ACB connections required to fit within Rittal Ri4Power modular switchgear systems.
Modular busbar system addresses environmental constraints
The development of a power station plant room provided not only logistical and technical challenges but also environmental considerations for Nova Controls during their installation of a water treatment PLC for a Yorkshire biomass site. The performance of Rittal’s Ri4power modular switch gear busbar system helped to deliver the solution that the site demands.
Addressing the problem of overheating panels
Rittal have a large range of cooling products that address the problem of overheating panels. The company's TopTherm fan-and-filter units are efficient but require a clean and cool environment for effective operation. Air-to-air heat exchangers have separate internal and external air paths, preventing dirt and dust from entering the panel, but still require cool ambient air.
Building your data centre on a firm foundation
An efficient IT infrastructure is now at the core of every modern business but underneath the tiers of applications and operating systems, a robust and reliable platform is essential. Rittal’s TS IT provides optimum stability and maximum space utilisation due to the welded frame construction.
Cooling alternatives mitigate impending legislation
From 1st January 2015 it will be illegal to use any recycled or reclaimed ozone-depleting HydroChloroFluoroCarbon (HCFC) R22 refrigerant to service cooling units. R22 remains one of the UK's most common refrigerants, used in the past to charge cooling units and chillers that provide electrical enclosure and process cooling. Rittal advise that this legislation may dramatically affect users' ability to service and maintain existing cooling pro...
Rittal’s RiMatrix S Data Centre roadshow venues
Packed into a shipping container on the back of an articulated lorry, Rittal’s RiMatrix S will again be at DatacenterDynamics Converged London 2014.
