IT workers unaware of how to defend against a cyber attack
UK businesses are unaware and unprepared when it comes to protecting themselves against cyber-attacks, new research has revealed. A survey of 1,032 IT workers in full or part-time employment, carried out by technology services provider Probrand has revealed that more than one in five (21%) don’t actually know what a ‘cyber-attack’ constitutes.

New research has revealed that many UK businesses are risking a potential data breach due to a lack of adequate server security. A survey of 1,050 UK workers in full or part-time employment, carried out by technology services provider, Probrand has revealed that a shocking 44% of businesses are failing to properly protect their client and employee data by not adequately securing their server.
Businesses are risking GDPR penalties
In the two months following the introduction of GDPR, 57% of UK retail businesses have failed to wipe the memory of redundant IT equipment before disposal. Despite GDPR legislation having come into effect over four months ago, the majority of UK retail businesses are now risking penalties by failing to adhere to some of the rules.
Workers say NO to slow technology in the workplace
Companies could be risking losing out to competitors during the recruitment process due to workers’ expectations about IT equipment and technology. According to a survey of 1,004 UK workers in full or part-time employment carried out by Probrand.co.uk, as many as 51% would reconsider accepting a job offer if they discovered the technology they would be working with was not up to their standards.
