Inductive components are key elements in electric cars

Batteries, energy converters and electric motors are the components which will power up the cars to a new technology level. To power up all the auxiliary electronics inside the cars, a 1.5kW to 3kW DC-DC converter is used. This converter must isolate the 14 VDC voltage output from the high voltage 400V batteries to protect users from electric discharges. The key element to perform this task is the high power transformer. This transformer must wit...

Premo develops new technology for high power planar transformers

To manage increasing output current levels of power converters, Premo has developed a new technology using planar transformers within a extended power range (few kW to 10 kW). This technology is specially developed for full-bridge topology with a high input voltage level (500-1000V) achieving different turns-ratio of 2 :1, 3 :1… Switching frequency can be defined between 70 to 160 kHz.
